Trending & News Most "Chinese" food served in American Chinese restaurants is a Westernized/bastardized version of Chinese food which is far off the mark. My wife is Chinese and she cooks authentic Chinese food at home, and she has identified a few local restaurants which serve authentic Chinese fare.
It's Chineseish. Just like Olive Garden isn't Italian food its Italianish.
I like some of the dishes at P. E., like mushroom chicken and Mongolian Beef. And only if it is fresh. Sometimes the stuff sits there for a while.

Panda Express is Chinese-American fast food, not traditional Chinese cuisine. It’s inspired by Cantonese and Sichuan flavors, then adapted to American tastes: sweeter sauces, thicker breading, big portions.
When I first tried orange chicken in California, it felt more like comfort junk food than anything I’d eaten in Beijing or Hong Kong. Tasty sometimes, but definitely a fusion, not authentic regional Chinese cooking. 🍊🥡

"Chinese" food in the U. S. has been Americanized since the 1950s. Pana Express is really Americanized. Most Americans would not like real Chinese food.
