The best ones I have ever tried are Charles Chips which come in a metal can by mail; I've only had them once but they were better than any chip I've ever had. My great-granddad said they used to deliver them to your door like they were part of your regular groceries, this would have been around 1960 or so.

For chips from the store I like Trader Joe's and Utz and Wise and Lays (though Lays did something and they're not as good anymore, I don't crave them like I once did). I don't eat very many at one time so I can take them or leave them.

I usually buy the Lays brand of potato chips because they're a thinner chip and I just like it better.

If I'm buying potato chips to specifically have with dips, then I usually choose Ruffles brand because I think it's a sturdier chip and thus better for dipping.

Depends. With dip, plain Ruffles. Without dip, either sour cream & onion or cheddar & sour cream. With salsa, either On The Border Tortilla Rounds or Santitas whatever the white bag is.
