Here in the UK on the 25th of January, it's 'Burns night' in Scotland and St Dwynwen's Day in Wales. In England it's Saturday.

Burns night celebrates the Scottish poet Robert Burns while St Dwynwen's Day celebrates a 5th century Saint and is effectively an extra valentines Day.

Burns night is celebrated with a meal of haggis, neaps, tatties, and whisky. While St Dwynwen's Day by giving gifts or a romantic meal out. Traditionally, men would attempt to get in your panties by carving you a spoon.

Unsurprisingly, some places have decided to cash in and combine the two events. Now you can have a romantic Burns night. So I thought it would be fun to follow suit and combine both here.

Unlike Burns night there's no traditional St Dwynwen's meal (other than a BJ) but after much googling I found one chef who came up with "Salmon, Samphire, Seaweed Mash, Spinach, Peas Lemon Thyme Butter Sauce" so for the sake of this question let's go with that.

So what sounds the best option?

Can you believe it's been over 24 hours since my last sausage question? How time flies. Today it's about chipshop sausages. There are three types of chippy sausage, plain sausage, battered sausage, and saveloy. They're never what you'd call a quality sausage.

Plain sausages are just sausage, the meat is usually well ground and soft. They tend to be long and fat.

Battered sausages are the same, just battered to up the calories and add a little texture.

Saveloys were originally made from pigs brains but today it's just pork and chemicals. Basically a big spicy hotdog

So what you going for?

The modern sausage roll is a French creation but is a popular British snack. They're sold hot to eat as on the go snacks or 'ready to cook' ones and are a common item in a beige buffet. You can get posh one's like blackpudding or caramelised red onion etc as well.

But when was the last time you ate a sausage roll?

No one likes to be short changed in the sausage dept but sometimes a long one can be more trouble than it's worth if you can't get it all inside.

So when it comes down to sausage size, what's the most frustrating, a little one lost in the bun, or one that sticks out both ends?

It's so bland , it used to be soooo tasty!!

Cumberland sausage is very popular in the UK and is sold either in regular sausage links or in traditional spirals, the better quality usually being the latter.

Most likely it started off as a Roman sausage such as Luganega which is still sold in Italy. Interestingly the latin salsīcia gives you the Italian Salsiccia, the welsh selsig, breton silzig, and the Cornish sesigen. The Cumbric language is extinct but probably had a similar word.

But I digress, how do you feel about long sausages? Do you prefer them in one long piece or ready twisted into easier to handle links.

What is the correct way to consume this culinary classic?

Cupcakes are crap aren't they? Far too much faffy icing to make them worth bothering with. But sooner or later you're going to be faced with eating one of these monstrosities when someone thinks they're clever because they found a recipe on tiktok.

Sure it might look pretty, but they're awkward to eat, so how do you tackle one?
