You're the one who's telling him that if he's not religious then he shouldn't be considered as a muslim. Not all muslim people are 100% religious.
Of course they believe in Islam completely but that doesn't mean that they abide by every single detail. Just because someone is not religious, it does not mean that they are not a part of the faith that they practice. That's BS, because if that's the case then pretty much the entire world would be considered as athiests.

Why can't someone pick and mix what they believe in, there's nothing wrong with having beliefs and not agreeing with other aspects of that religion also.

I see, well sometimes labeling yourself a certain religion is just an easier way to sum up your beliefs, lots of Christians do it. People can also believe in god but not believe in other aspects of the christian religion, I was just stating that I think it's possible and some people do it lol

You said that you don't believe in God. If you don't believe in God, you are not Muslim. If you don't follow any Muslim rules or practices in addition to not believing in God, you are definitely not Muslim. You may have been raised by a Muslim family, or come from a place where everyone is Muslim, participated in Muslim traditions/culture, etc. but YOU as an individual are not Muslim, because it is a religion, and to identify yourself as having a certain religion (of any kind) requires that you believe in some part of it, ESPECIALLY God, whether or not you actively participate in traditions, church, etc.
