Girls, Why does a girls pee hiss?

When I've heard girls go pee, it always makes a hissing sound
Any reason for this? Does it always happen?

We are closer to the bowl and girls have stronger bladder control.

We generally keep more in there before peeing and because we are closer to the loo bowl and the angle we pee at, it sounds louder. I'm sure if men sat and pointed the way we do it would be loud too.
