Girls, do you ever get scared walking out and about alone late at night?

I personally always feel very uncomfortable walking around late at night like almost unsafe.. my home town is pretty safe but yet i'm always looking over my shoulder and very very aware of my surroundings at all times to the point i'm almost paranoid of people.. I think it doesn't help when i hear and read so much online and in the news, anyone else like this?

What you are describing are the symptoms of living in a "rape culture" .. that word is powerful scary, and misunderstood. It does not mean that guys around your are out to rape you it simply is a word that describes the feeling that a woman gets when she's walking to her car alone or walking down the street or doing anything where she feels like she has to have eyes behind her head and Men including myself can never really understand how debilitating that phenomenon could possibly be I don't have an answer for you I can just tell you that what you're feeling is real and you don't have to have had a history to feel it it's sad and hopefully enough guys will hear enough about it to become empathetic and make women feel a little bit safer in their our neighborhood someday

My area its very calm and peaceful but shit has happes here. Couple years ago a girl was raped and killed by a man who used to watch her get out of the train and apparently learned her schedule. Then a man was almost killed when he showed up to buy an item he saw on craiglist.
So as safe as it might be, you always gotta be careful.

That totally depends on the area. In a decrepit, poorly lit part of town, the creeps would probably get the better of me. In my neighbourhood or a populated downtown area, I'd feel as safe at night as I do during the day. Despite what the movies portray, only 7% of sexual violence is perpetrated by a stranger and about 80% of homicides are committed by someone known to the victim. You're far more likely to be a victim of someone you know than someone you don't.

That depends on where I am and where I go. I don't necessarily get scared. But if I sense something isn't right, I will be warned about it. I would not stay in that area, or be in unsafe areas period. If I can't trust myself or the environment around me, then I rather be at home early.

I wouldn't go walking anywhere at night, and why would I? A park or a nature trail is for walking, but during the day. People have every reason to be afraid at night, we aren't evolved to see in the darkness, but there are many things which can probably see you.

Even walking down a populated street I’ll be looking at the people approaching my like “is this chick going to stab me and run off with my wallet? Or maybe just leave the wallet. I knew a guy who got stabbed at a train station completely randomly one time, lost a piece of his lung and stomach. Not even robbed. It was just some psycho having fun apparently.

Some one asks me the time, well who doesn’t have the fkn time in 2017? I’ll be thinking this is some pretense to rob me or this person is going to cut my eyes.

I get scared even in the daytime... Cars would go by and some stopped next to me. They would talk to me out the windows and I would walk away really fast. I go on runs so I’m by myself.. But I never EVER go at night. Too dangerous even for a guy to be honest.

Sometimes, I think it depends which part of town you're in or what you're wearing. Getting harassed or cat called is common where I live so I think it depends where I am.

I think your question applies to guys, too. I live in an overall good area. But it still has it's problems, including undesirable transients. Hence why I have a concealed-carry permit and am usually armed if I have to go out at night.

When I used to regularly walk alone late at night, I never felt unsafe. These days, I feel uncomfortable. I think if I started walking around more regularly at night, the fear will disappear again.
