for me I will compliment him and either avoid making eye contact or look at him with longing. I might also mock his hair cut in a joking way so he knows I don't mean to degrade him or try to flirt with him. Other times I will be very nice such as e-mailing him my notes for class before he asks for them or saying kind words and being supportive of everything he does. I will also try to impress him - so might brag about my grades or my other accomplishments.
