If a Girl wants to hug you, does she like you?

So I just got out of a 6 yr relationship so I'm kind of idiotic when it comes to queues like this.

Girl I've been talking too (but am not really close too) got sick, so I brought her some ice cream after work (10pm) to help her feel better. She came out of the house, and I rolled down the window for her to pick it up. She goes "aren't you gonna get out hug me?". She was all giddy too, but we don't really see eachother very much.

This something girls, do if they like you? Or see you as a friend? I don't know.

being freshly single explains a bit how u feel, and it is normal.
not only girls, guys too need a hug from time to time.
she needs a hug, then give it to her without expecting anything.
u mentioned she is a friend of urs and u rarely see each other, and it could simply means that she misses u as a friend.
she could feel down and a hug makes people in general feel better.
in my own opinion, u can just go inside her house, sit with her, have a good conversation as friends.
let her talk and listen to her, really, just "listen" to her.
a 6 years relationship does not go like that, u might be feeling down a bit, so u can talk to her too, i am sure she will listen.
a nice conversation between 2 friends is always better than sitting alone :-)

Not necessarily. I've had a lot of friends that love hugs and have a giddy personality. And I'm on their good side because I'm super nice to them (and everyone else). But you'll usually know if you start looking out for more subtle hints. But a hug by itself doesn't say much.

Agree with purple. It depends though, some girls (me fore example) aren't the huggy type and usually will like pat you or do something that guys do more. it really depends, some of my friends like to hug people and some don't, some will hug people they've only spoken to once when they get really excited

I hug all my male friends. some of them i like as men but mostly i like them as person. But she likes you. And you deserved a hug you did a sweet thing. But it's hard to tell if it's more.

True. To add some context.. I asked her out about 3 months ago. Was rejected twice because she said she didn't know me well enough. I started to ignore her because I felt I was being led on.
She msged me after a couple months saying to "Please" hang out, and invited me to a concert.
The concert is in a week, and I agreed to go. So I brought her some ice cream since she was sick, and she hugged me so I don't know. Was rejected a few months ago.. but now she's acting like this.
Kinda feels friendzone-ish. But again it kinda doesn't /: . Never had a friend there a girl actually care this much about talking to me.. but also reject me.

I think she likes you but not that much. You're that guy she keeps for lonley days but she's not that serious about you. There might be a chance for you two to get in a relationship. but i wouldn't recommend you to count on it. Play along enjoy your time but don't expect anything from her. I guess she doesn't know either if she want you or not.

Yes... be with her but don't expect anything out of your friendship. If she confused you again just politely ask her about it. it's better than guessing what could that mean?

Lots of girls just hug casually. I only do it with really close friends personally but some girls do it to more people. Hugging isn't a sign of much in my experience.

Asker: It really does depend on the girl. Some girls really do hug a lot, and some would hug just about anybody under the circumstances you gave. It does mean that she has a certain degree of comfort around you.

She's being friendly. Girls hug all the time, you will start noticing this. Guys are more into handshakes, high fives, fist bumps. But girls hug everyone they're friendly with. It is possible she might be into you, so keep watching her ;)

She's being friendly for sure. but girls can be friendly to guys they like right? :) a hug is not a sign of someone being attracted to you. so look for more signs. or give her a sign that you're into her. the way she responds will make it clear how she feels.

Just the whole, asking me to get out and hug her thing really questioned it for me. Like everyone of my other friends that are girls would of just said, "thank you so much", or I don't know.
And this chick knows I'm REALLY into her. I told her how I felt a month or so ago.

so what are you waiting for? If she knows already just ask her out. If she says yes - great. If she says no, well at least you won't be waiting around for signs that she never intends to send.

That might change things a little. If she knows how you feel then she is stringing you along, unsure how she feels, or she likes you and wants you to make a move. Maybe since she knows how you feel you should just ask her how she feels about you. It isn't so direct as to push her away, but direct enough to count as a move if she is into you.

Maybe she was unsure at the time and realized how she feels? Maybe she is just back for round 2 of stringing you along? (I'd say this is unlikely, if she was then you'd be paying for the tickets. I'm assuming she paid for yours, but maybe I'm wrong.) Maybe she's just feeling lonely now? Regardless, you should probably ask her how she feels after the concert, if not make a move.

@devilman666 We paid for our own tickets. Before I asked her out though, I was strung along with her asking to come over to watch movies, make dinner, etc. I guess I can ask her out after the concert.

That isn't stringing along? Stringing along usually implies a benefit to the person pulling the string. Her wanting to spend time with you seems more like her wanting to spend time with you than her stringing you along. It's still possible she is, but the more you say the less likely it seems to me like she's stringing you along.

if she know's you're super into her, but does not intend to reciprocate those feelings, she's being very unfair keeping you as a friend and inconsiderate. but perhaps she does like you, so we can speculate all we want, the only way you will know for sure is if you ask her.

I think it's foolish to try and make a rule you can stand by that if a girl hugs you, she's into you. If a girl hugs you, you got hugged, and that's about as much as you can correctly associate with the hug. It's possible a girl could like you and not want to hug you. It's possible a girl might like you and want to give you a hug. There's no "because X happened, Y must be true".

I don't speak for all women, but I don't think it's necessarily a sign she likes you. Depends on how touchy she normally is, some girls hug a lot some almost never hug unless they like the person.
