I do if I want to acknowledge someone as I pass them in a loud place or if my hands are full. I’m not going to yell out. It’s less of a nod than a really brief curtsy since the movement doesn’t come from my head but my knees. It isn’t something I choose to do. It’s just some instinctual thing. Most people don’t even notice.

I'm often the nod initiator. Rarely get nods back. I like to nod just for the fact it seems weird to see a girl nod, as it is an uncommon mannerism, and I find a cuteness in the uniquity of the "odd".
So ya, I'mma nod atcha. 'Sup? 😉
Lmao, I know only myself who does that here. They find it cute, apparently, but for me it's merely a habit.
Leave it alone, it's a guy thing we share, and a simple 'nod' is a distant greeting, and 'What's up"? Gesture. I NEVER do it with women, as it isn't for them.
Guy thing, leave it be. It conveys a different 'message' than most guys should, or would, with a woman.
Mainly guys have done it to me.. Women just usually smile back.. It is odd but not a big deal.. I can be cute dependin on how the girl does it..

Yes head nod and smile back. It's a way of saying hi.
Similar to the other responses on this list, I usually only get it from other guys as a sign of acknowledgment and mutual respect. Girls mostly just say hi, smile, or wave, but if a girl does nod back, it doesn't weird me out. It's just not that often that it happens so it catches me off-guard for like half a second.
I generally get the nod back from guys, and girls just smile or wave. There are times that girls do it back but usually as a joke.
I’ve seen it at work, I thought it was odd also.. my take on it was that the girl did not want a friendship with the guy, but wanted to keep things professional.
gender should have bearing on what is an acceptable way to acknowledge someone
Id consider it more of tipping your hat to someone and guys seem to wear hats more, I don't know really but anyone can.
Just smile back.
I do it sometimes.
