Do girls like flowers on a first date?

Flowers is always a good thing, but it seems more genuine to me if I receive them on the second date.

The way I see it, if you give me flowers on our first date, then who is to say that you don’t give ALL your first dates flowers. Plus how do you know what kind of flowers like on the first date?
That’s why the second date is more genuine. In a way, it shows that you don’t just buy all your dates flowers.

I used to like it when I was dating during my twenties but I moved to another city and guys who lived in that area used to bring small gifts to the date, like perfume or alcohol like wine or champagne which I thought was a little different but, it was appreciated.

I think today's generation can learn from old fashion values when it comes to dating. Yes flowers make me smile and makes me think he's a gentleman. Any woman that would complain about it would be a glimpse into the future of how she will be in a relationship. Unless she has allergies. Lol!

Flowers are nice, but really bulky and inconvenient to carry around all night. I'd save it for when you are having dinner at her place, so she can enjoy them without trying to figure out what to do with them if you meet up at a bar/coffee house/restaurant.

They wilt in heat and dehydrate without water. It's a nice gesture, it just isn't really practical and can get a bit awkward in the modern era of dating. Why do you want to give a gift the first date? Do you know her already, or is this an app match thing?

Some guys do small perfumes instead, or chocolates, or a small thing from something important to them (I dated a guy who gave me a guitar pick with his band's name on it which was cool). But over all, "gifts" really aren't important and they mean more if they come later down the road as you've thought about this person your giving it to rather than trying to 'brand' women as much as possible which is a kinda playah move.

It was neat because he was super passionate about it and it genuinely reminds me of him when I look at it. A perfume bottle is hard to match to the guys name after a week or so has gone by. But he genuinely lit up talking about it for like 10 minutes, so maybe he was a bit weird too. I like that. I like guys who have GENUINE interests in life rather than 'look how much cash *I* can spend' and 'let me talk about my 401K'. It can come across a bit... sleazy? when guys think they can 'buy' a girl. Don't get me wrong - it's great if they have a good job and they should be proud of their successes; but if they think all I'm looking for is a sugar daddy I'd rather not be around them. I like guys who have something deeper than that.

That's just my personal preferences. If feel it's important to give formal "gifts" to a woman you don't know well, then nothing is stopping you. All you can do is hope to attract somebody with the same values that you do in life.

It doesn't seem that weird now that you elaborate. I've never looked at life where I could give a girl something to make her remember me. Kinda like making her romance over me. I guess maybe that's something I can do... but maybe that wouldn't be right with the way I'm attracted to girls. I think I go for ones more out of my league. so maybe it wouldn't be something she would like thabks. Are you guys still dating?

No. Ultimately, we weren't a good set, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a good guy or wouldn't be a good boyfriend for someone else.

Eh, I'm not really a fan of these traditional date gifts. I wouldn't mind getting chocolate but I think it's cheesy. A guy once got me a little bottle of vodka which I thought was hilarious. It made me feel like he knew me well enough to not buy these things that I would just consider cheesy. Of course if it's a first date you won't know her that well at that point. I'm sure it's the thought that counts, not what you actually bring.
