Are women generally afraid of child birth?

Just wondering what part of pushing a foot ball sized baby out does sound appealing? Do women just say. Oh I'm pregnant now I have to push it out. Or go to the local vacume cleaner and have him do it?
Does pain have anything to do with it? Or is pain just one of. those things that women just say meh its part of life etc...

I can answer this pretty good considering I had a baby a few months back. I was scared shitless of the time drawing closer and closer to giving birth. Being pregnant is easy for the most part but birth you get to be in hours of pain no food they only let you drink water broth Popsicles so you get to starve for many hours because if they have to perform a c section you cannot have food in your tummy. You may or may not be able to walk. You basically know that at some point that you'll be in a lot of pain so everytime someone asked me are you excited to give birth I generally thought would you be excited to be in pain knowing its coming soon? My answer was always no in my head. I wasn't afraid more like not excited to be in pain. Scared of if they needed to slice my perineum to get the baby out or do c section cause who wants to be cut up?

I am absolutely terrified. Pregnancy looks like a literal nightmare and I’m afraid I’ll never get my sexy young body back. Also statistically speaking, black women are more likely to die during childbirth. So yeah, I’m terrified of dying during childbirth. My boyfriend almost lost his mother during childbirth. She was unconscious and the doctors asked his father that if it came down to it he might have to choose whether he wanted his wife or unborn son to live. I’ve told my boyfriend that if he ever had the choice I would want him to save me, and if he did not I would come back as a ghost and haunt him forever.

That being said, considering all mammals give birth - and considering creation of another life in its entirety is magical - I don't see the reason to fear it (and was told it feels fabulous).

The bit that probably needs to be added is that doctors create this massive amount of fear for what is the most natural thing there is. Especially if done in water or in comfort (and being in front of strangers naked and on a table is anything but comforting) - I suspect it is not only pain free, but pleasure generating.

It's not really that big a deal by the end of 10 months there's more of a I want to stop being pregnant and get it out of me feeling. I wasn't scared of the pain, with our technology now there's rarely any times deaths or illness would happen. Despite all those TV shows, I never once screamed or did anything of the sort. I was crying and whimpering a fair bit but I didn't see the point of screaming or swearing that's just over the top. My girl was 8pounds 7 ounces so fairly large and I ended up using gravity to get her out by sitting on this weird stall thing and this lying on this foam triangle block she was out in about 20mins but been having contractions for almost three days with the last 8 hours being the painful ones.

I won't lie to you. Yeah it's painful. But not unbearable. And just like any hospital moment there are risks but with today's technology and drs you will be ok. I had two not so fun childbirths but served both and came out stronger and happier to be a mother than ever.
If you go into this situation worried you will draw in the negativities
Women have been having babies for centuries and only 25 percent (look it up) have been tragic in loss of baby or mother..

Yeah my thoughts exactly although I want more I'm sorta dreading the experience as for the last four/five mouths I always felt light headed and dizzy, I almost fell down the stairs twice and started taking lifts even for a single flight and people got argumentative with me for doing so, so not looking forward to that again especially since the doctors couldn't tell me what was wrong with me

I love the idea of becoming a mom and I really look forward to having a beautiful family. However the idea does scare me. So many things could go wrong with my baby or with me. Also the fact that my life will change and my body will take a toll. I know it will be worth it, but it does scare me a little bit

It's fear for good reason. You only ever mainly hear about the births that go "perfectly," but there is a lot that can go wrong in childbirth including the death of your child or yourself, so the fear is not imagined or all in your head.

My sister in law had one of the worst birth stories I ever heard. Literally nothing went according to any plans. She couldn't get an epidural so the pain was never ending and intense according to her, the baby had complications, nurses had to painfully try to turn the baby twice, she tore, the labor lasted nearly 2 full days, and afterwords she developed a pretty serious infection.

It's honestly terrifying to me. I love the idea of having my own kids and I definitely intend to have them naturally... but the process and the experience, from what I've heard and seen, has made me a little uneasy about it. Plus, I am have more of a small-medium figure, as I'm not even 5'2" , so the idea of giving birth to a child with my stature is... scary, but I want to do it anyway. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, so pain is not my issue, my body is lol.

Nothing about pregnancy or birth sounds particularly appealing. What's appealing comes after all of that - being a mom, raising a child.
I'm scared of being pregnant and even more scared of giving birth. So far I have 0 interest in any of it, including being a mom.

You're still young enough to be understandably concerned. Finding a man who is loyal will be critical to pulling this off particularly well. And... men are terrified to commit. The minute one does, he'd better hope the gal is of good character. Because the family courts are often run by some of the worst scum imaginable. They'll pick him like vultures - and keep most of it for themselves, not for the woman collecting alimony / child support!

I’ve had two kids and I was definitely afraid to give birth. My oldest I was so drugged you I didn’t feel pain, with my second I did it with no pain meds or epidural and I’m never having a kid ever again,

Of course. Anything can happen during this time. We are extremely vulnerable, and so are our babies. Plus, doctors aren’t always right. It’s a scary experience for every woman. There are so many deaths, especially within the black community. Are we improving maybe, but we’ve some room for growth. If anyone wants to argue.. or disagree be sure to research on the matter first.

I was at first but once I experienced it then I realized it really isn't that bad. I loved being pregnant and giving birth. It is very painful but the pain is only temporary so its definitely worth it all to have a child.

That’s why some women don’t want men who don’t bring a calming presence there. It’s hard enough as it is without making it all about him.

There’s a high chance of things going wrong too like placental abruption (internal bleeding that happens fast!) and oxygen deprivation to the bones brain too. Thankfully women are safer now with hospitals to help them through, but in the old days death of mother or baby was high.

When my best friend gave birth for the first time she said don’t listen to what anyone tells you, they’ll never tell you it’s as bad as it really is. I imagine because if they did you’d be even more terrified. It’s also not just the birth, it’s how messed up your body is for a while after too. I mean sometimes women end up with just one hole down there instead of two and the healing and moving afterwards is painful also.
