I personally feel that "girls" would do that, but women would not.
I know someone whom I can sense being desperate for attention from the man that she likes, I've seen her done that more than one occasion. She has long hair so she put her hair up while we were working. One time the man that she likes was assigned to our area as well, and as soon as we finished work, she went to the restroom and she came back, her hair was down and put a certain way.
One time I saw she was doing something on her phone while the guy was next to him. Then she showed us pictures of her hairdo. Nobody asked about her hair. It was just out of nowhere she started showing pictures and a lot of female coworkers would compliment on her since she was showing pictures.
In summary, I feel that "girls" would do things to their hair, or use their hair for attention from guys that they like, but I haven't seen women do that. Women know their worth enough to not have to do something like that for attention. When I like a man, I wouldn't want my hair to look messy, but I wouldn't do anything noticeable to "catch" his attention. I'll just discreetly make sure that my hair isn't messy. I won't even hold up my phone to check myself out. I think that's too vain.

Not consciously. It’s more that we want to get someone’s attention, and we simultaneously want to look good when that happens. So we start grooming ourselves. Fixing our hair and clothes. Checking that we don’t have anything on our face. Guys do the same thing. The hair part just isn’t as noticeable because their hair isn’t as long. But I know a lot of guys who start running their fingers through their hair constantly when they’re around a girl they like. And it’s hilarious because while it’s intended to fix their hair, it usually just makes it even messier.
Hair frames your natural facial features. Stroking hair is a sign of attraction, why wouldn't she be doing it and smiling simultaneously if she's unattracted to the man? Subconscious communication
Yes but it's not a 100% you shouldn't have to question it. Your first though should be, "she's doing that for me" just because it should be obvious at that point.

Umm definitely not. Do not assume this. Trust me, you will be very disappointed otherwise. It's long and it has a mind of it's own. We are just fixing it from wind and regular movement. I play with mine absent-mindedly and has nothing to do with guys. I would hope guys don't think this otherwise I've been giving off some very mixed signals🤣
... and specially when they are wearing tank tops or other sleeveless tops. They will never admit it but its just something natural that they do. And often it is one of the hottest gestures they can do... (only if the girl was attractive enough for you).
I think for most of us it's just a habit. Like if some people have a pencil they will spin it, we have hair so we will play with it
Some might.
I usually play with my hair if I'm bored.I do that to look cute when I'm around someone I find attractive 😅
Yes it's sort of subconscious though. I used to do it and realized it after someone told me about playing with my hair.
Yeah I picked up on that throughout the years for me it's like I hey now moment that's my cue to go to work
Psychologists say yes and I decided to believe it. Its not a 100% kinda thing but once I see it while I'm talking to her I go with it
I think it’s more of a nervous reaction, but a guy could be the cause.
I did it subconsciously, and stopped once I noticed I was doing it.
I fix and play with my hair when I'm nervous or intimidated.
Yes i guess... Not all of them and not always for sure
i think think they do it all the time when they are around guys even if those guys aren't attractive. girls are insecure, you know!
do guys fix their hair to get girls' attention. not necessarily! stop assuming
I don't know but i dind myself doing it by accident not on purpose
