+1 yThere is old 80s song (forgot the artist’s name) where a woman is singing about “tell me sweet white lies”.
Anyway nobody really likes being lied too. But the good “feeling” and emotion people can get (naive men and many women) seems more enticing to them than the hard truth.
I’ll give you a perfect example. Women will often lie to BBW women that they are “beautiful”. Men also are expected to be extremely careful responding to a woman who asks “do I look fat”. If a guy asked a stupid loaded question like that we would just give it to him straight (maybe with some humor and recommendation to get his ass to the gym).
Anyway I’ve seen countless fuckboys and manipulative assholes lie through their teeth to get women in the past and IT WORKED. I once saw a married guy tell a random young attractive girl he just met that “he wanted to spend the rest of his life her” just to get laid that night. She fell for it hook line and sinker.
Personally I’ve never lied to get in my entire life. I might avoid talking about certain subjects or change the subject if I get asked a question I don’t want to answer, but I never intentionally lie. I’m not good at it anyway. And it costed me from getting laid a few times (including a few beautiful women) but it’s just not me.00 Reply

I definitely do not like lies of any sort. I’m very literal and rely on clear direct information, the bending of truth is beyond frustrating. In addition I’m not going to ask a question if I don’t want a real answer. Being lied to is a form of being bandied which is condescending and I won’t want to be around someone who can not speak respectfully to me as an adult. If i didn’t ask you don’t need to go out of your way to tell me either, but if I ask please don’t lie. This also impacts the ability to trust a person. I’m very attuned to body language. Someone who is honest and who is not is the diff between a smooth road and bumpy road w/ sudden twists and turns. We have very diff affect when we speak honestly vs don’t mean vs when we say something we do not mean. If in both cases We claim to mean what we say, this will call into question any statement ever made. Communication is heavily pre verbal. I do t think this is considered strongly enough.
For myself, I specifically choose my company based on who is able and willing to be honest. Some people may prefer being lies to I’m sure there are people but this is definitely not something you can paint with a broad brush. in my opinion612 Reply- +1 y
I think often examples people give of lies being preferred is the diff between someone going out of their way to be a jerk and or give info no one ashes for shd or above and beyond what was ashes, vs just remaining silent or providing info as needed.
A lot of people take advantage of the trope “I tell it like it is“ just to say any offensive thought that comes into their head. You can be honest and compassionate. It’s possible. But if you can not be both I still want honesty. - +1 y

Lol ok so when we use words we express emotion body language energy - that is communicated beneath the words. It’s how we can tell someone is angry or happy or sad by the WAY they hold themselves, saying “I was waiting for you “ same words but diff meaning and we pick up on meaning with body language and energy... we get a feeling even before words are said. If someone is saying “ I’m being honest” when they are lying even if well meaning- their vibe is very diff than another time when they say “I’m being honest” and they actually ARE being honest, and it makes tuna that person impossible to trust... esp for people who are very attuned to affect. Communication isn’t just about what we want to do it’s about what we actually do. And that gets lost in the whole oh I better say x y s to be nice or spare someone etc.
I think people would be better off focusing on clear kind ways to express truth rather than saying what they don’t mean to ‘ be nice’. Lying is Easier tho, so lots of people rely on it. Unfortunately. - +1 y
- +1 y
sure... let’s say I didn’t feel like going out snd I tell my friend sorry I really wanted to come I had an emergency. I may think I’m sounding so com in ing but bc what we say isn’t just what we say or how we try to sound but what we are actually doing which we have varying degrees but not complete control over, she’s going to get “ mixed messages”
Next time I miss her b day Party and I actually DID want and I tend to go but I have a real emergency I say the same exact thing but I sound very diff bc this time I actually MEAN it. She won’t know WHICH time I was lying but she will pick up the diff... consequently my words begin to hold less meaning bc the affect is inconsistent and she will have suspicion and difficulty trysting going forward.
Now I gsce a simplistic example and as I say people are more attuned than others so it depends but overall the more you lie with the same words you use to tell the truth the more you become, if “ the words on the other side of this page are false “ was a person. - +1 y
Ohhhhhhhh. You mean like the boy who cried wolf.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI will get hurt by the truth but I'll be more hurt if I found out he's been lying for ages. So tell me the truth and wqtch me cry, or lie and watch me hate you.

+1 yYes, it really depends on the situation. Like when a lady is pregnant and asks if she looks fat you say no. Some women are sensitive about their cooking and it might not be the worst meal but it's she asks if you like it then you say yes (especially if it is the first meal on a date). It is all about timing and the situation. The thing is that sometimes they know it is a white lie but it feels good just to hear it. Just make sure your white lie doesn't hurt anyone or could play out badly in the future.
00 Reply885 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. Except for @biancam133, all these girls are cappin through their teeth. They might say they want honesty, but often times they lose their shit when they hear it, especially if it's said in a way that they don't like. For example, a girl walks in thinking she's pretty with her new style and asks your opinion. What she's looking for is validation to reinforce her beliefs. You can give her the honesty that she wants so badly and tell her that her style is wack and she's putting on a few pounds in the wrong places, at which point she'll call you an asshole and her day will be consumed by self-conscious thoughts, OR you can lie and tell her she looks good so that she feels better about herself. No woman can honestly say she's prefers to be told she's ugly over pretty. Women want the type of honesty that you give a child. "Of course you're attractive", "you did your best", "there's someone out there for you", "we're proud of you", "it's not you, it's me".

+1 yGirls like reassurance.
Everyday we walk down the street or open our phones we are bombarded with ads that tell us about hotter ways to look, classier ways to dress, and Sasser ways to stand up for ourselves.
So no we don't appreciate terse 'no' or ' yes' answers to important questions.31 ReplyThe weird thing is, we all say we prefer the truth, but when it comes down to it, a lot of us would also like to be lied to sometimes. eg. When a girl asks does she look fat in a dress.. We ask our boyfriends things but only want to hear the answer we want to hear, if that makes sense.

741 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. Wrong question. The question is what kind of man do you want to be? One who needs to tell lies to get what he wants or one who doesn't? In one case you're scared and following. In the other you're a leader. And the ones saying they don't want a-holes telling them the truth: If you had a $50 for every woman who happily slept with an a-hole you'd be richer than Bill Gates.

+1 yThere is this thing called TRUST and RESPECT.
No one likes the idea of being lied to.
now there are those times both sides will avoid hurting, upsetting the other by not giving an accurate truth lol.
but those are not really lies, as if people actually told the stark cold truth every time, we would be without partners, jobs, friends etc lol.10 ReplyWomen usually want the white lie - it's an ego boost & makes them feel good.
However, they respect the truth. Yes, it can hurt, but honesty will rarely steer you wrong, unless you say too much. 😅 Don't be overly critical.
So if you are giving criticism buffer the bad with the good.
E. g. That color looks really good on you, but yes, it accentuates your figure a little too much [makes her look fat]. (Note: This assums the whole statement is true.)00 Reply
+1 yI can't speak for all women, but I prefer the truth. A lie, even a white lie is still a lie, ave when it comes to light as most lies do, ruins the trust I have in that person.

@anylolone
If I look horrible I want to kniw lol why do you think I ask clothing questions 😂
😲 I think we can all agree no one here has cited trumps pubes 👻 - +1 y
As I said answering a question honestly with no more information than was requested is not the same as going oit of your way to insult someone. People can do both lol I’m just saying if someone says they want honesty and happen to not enjoy being insulted, doesn’t make them a hypocrite. No one knows what grumps lives look like so that is not an informative piece of info just a colorful clever insult 🤷♀️😊
- +1 y
@VIVANT Why do you imply "going out of your way to insult someone", why do you think saying your hair looks like trump's pubes is going out of your way to insult someone?
Isn't that insulting to people's pubes? Pubes do have a distinct appearance that tends to differ from hair that's on the top of the head, so it might be accurate. - +1 y
Also it’s ridiculous that the example given again and again is looks. There are so many serious questions where lies are totally destructive. Who cares if someone gets upset bc you say something honest about their looks. It doesn’t mean they want to be lied to or that should be lied to.
‘Some person gets upset bc someone offers unsolicited opinion rudely = proof everyone wants to be lied to’ ... that is a very bottom tier way of reheating to people. I can say giving people any excuse to lie is bad idea. Feel with the truth when it hurts bc you’ll appreciate the truth when it matters... if you feel bad And want to cry go cry and get over it. Once someone starts lying they will do it stem convenient which will be all the time. - +1 y
Anyhow this question was set up in a way and was answered in a way that can not be credibly asked or answered. Obviously diff people want diff things. I don’t want to be lied to. I would prefer uncomfortable truths to gaslighting. but this is in relationships that are important... if we are not significant to each other it doesn’t really matter. I don’t trust most people anyhow. Bc most lie.
- +1 y
@VIVANT But an image comes to mind exactly because there's a pattern to how pubes look like, not much different than saying "you look like the daughter of jullia robberts and brad pit".
Also, he has an army of professional groomers, someone literally fake tans his ass for a living, and he has an army of doctors and nurses that care for his health, someone is literally tasked with diagnosing the status of his groin area.
He might not even have pubes, by the way, he might shave, have it lasered, waxed, who knows, but there's an idea of how it would look like in it's "natural state", plus the whole tanning thing.
Also, this question seem way too easy to answer. She answered it easily, a lot of other chicks and dudes as well.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThey say they don't but any totally honest guy is single.
What they really want is to believe their man thinks the way they want him to think, all the time. Which is impossible. So they want to be lied to convincingly. Do it well enough and they will pretend to believe you.00 Reply- 1.4K opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic.
