I’ve been looking into starting self defence classes actually. Yes women are physically weaker than men, but having a few moves/skills under your belt couldn’t hurt right? It’s very smart for a girl to take at least a couple of self defence classes in her life I think.

Hate to say this but I agree. Violent men tend to be experienced in violence, they're used to being hit by other violent men, it's just part of their life style. The best defense is knowing how to read a situation and getting out of there. Self defense classes give women false sense of security and could encourage them to take unnecessary risks.
No amount of classes will help when you're drunk in high heels and that's when most guys will attack.

In a sense, I agree with you. The money would be better spent on basic firearms training, getting a concealed carry permit, which are shall-issue here in Florida (we may get constitutional carry next year) and carry a handgun.

A 5 foot 6 inch woman trained in self defense won't intimidate a 6 foot 6 inch male adversary... her Glock 19 will!

I have been through self defense training and most of these courses teach how to get away and tray to pay attention to details so you can help police later. Some of us are lucky enough to learn how to actually put an attacker down and keep them there. I was attacked by a muscular guy and he was the one who went to the hospital. No honorable man will try to hurt a woman so with this thought there is nothing off the table for us to use to defend ourselves meaning there are no "Dirty" fight moves.

no my community and local police department offer these classes for free and as far as honor there is none in picking on someone you think is weak for any reason regardless of sex. My training is not just self defense but hand to hand combat
