Girls, why would you hide your smile to a guy?

I like this girl a lot but something that I've noticed is that she will laugh and smile a lot to people but when I talk to her she will either try to hold her smile when I say something "funny" and give me a serious look and it won't be until I pretend to look away that she'll have the BIGGEST smile on her face or if its too sudden, she will turn her whole head away from me but I can clearly see that she is smiling and sometimes she'll giggle while turning away and if I ask something like "what are you laughing at?" she will say " I'm laughing at you not with you" or "I'm laughing at you, as usual" lol. I personally like when she looks at me with that serious look and when I look down disappointed that my attempt at humor didn't work, I can see with the corner of my eye that she is looking at me and smiling, but why won't she let me see it? its crazy, any ideas?

I always loved her smile and she does smile a lot, but the fact that she looks away or waits until she thinks I'm not looking to do it its just weird. Funny story, recently, she got braces so of course she wouldn't smile that much. I got her a card and wrote that, braces or not, I thought she had the most beautiful smile in the world. After that people started commenting "have you noticed she smiles more now with braces than when she didn't have them?" I'm like "well, I wouldn't know about that"

Now she is way too cocky. If I ask her something like "can I have a smile?" (yes, I really do have to ask) she will tell me something along the lines "well, do you think you deserve one?" She should get over herself lol.

Her not liking me could be a strong possibility. She seldomly smiles at me (when she does is really nice and wide though) and (and this is a big AND) she rarely says my name when she has no problem saying everybody elses (friends, acquaintances) either when she greets them (enthusiastically, all I get is a "hello" or "good morning") or just when engaging in a conversation. Although for somebody who isn't interested she seems to remember and ask questions about a lot of stuff we've talked about .

Why does she hide her smile?
I can relate to this question so I'm going to give you the best possible answer.
Before I got my braces I used to be extremely insecure about the way my smile looked. Whenever someone made a joke and I found it funny I would immediately cover my mouth so they wouldn't see my smile.
No matter who it was either a guy or a girl I would always cover my mouth.
I then got braces and I slowly started getting more confident in smiling but I would still cover my mouth at times when I was laughing.
I was in class at one point and this guy friend came up to me and told me "Why do you always cover your smile when you laugh? I don't see anything wrong with it." ever since that day I quit covering my mouth while smiling or laughing. I was indeed still insecure about it.
Just because a girl covers her mouth when she laughs or smiles doesn't mean she is shy around you or that she likes you she could just be insecure about herself. You can always remind her that you think her smile is beautiful and that she doesn't need to cover it when she is around you. I'm sure that will boost her confidence a bit more.

Two possibilities:

1) She might be nervous around you and she doesn't want to look dumb around you, so she puts her serious face on when your looking into her eyes and when you look away, she thinks its her chance to let out her laughter, OR

2) She's not interested and by not smiling with you specifically means she doesn't want to be associated with you.

My first thought is that she's trying to hide how much she likes you. When I like someone, pretty much anything they say is just automatically funny to me, I just can't help it. If she's the same, maybe she doesn't want to betray that she likes you so much so the ball isn't completely in your court.

Sometimes I do that because if I don't, I'll be smiling 100% nonstop around him and might look goofy. Maybe she thinks the "sexy and serious" is more appealing to you?

Maybe, she is always trying to make it look like I'm very unfunny and sometimes she will just stare at me when I crack a joke or tell me "that was so lame" but laughs anyway and that's when I set myself up for the "I'm laughing at you, as usual" line. She laughs and smile so easily with others, but its like she puts up this serious demeanor with me. The whole room can laugh at something I say but she will make some sarcastic comment, its quite uncanny.

I used to be like that too.

For me, it was because I thought my smile looked kinda dumb. lol

And, my teeth were kinda yellowish.

and I didn't like people seeing them.
