My (M21) girlfriend (19F) doesn't want me to meet her sister (17F) and I can't make any sense of it?

For context she talks about her at least once a day and sometimes compares herself to her. She has this love-hate thing going on with her like she likes to hangout with her but also complains a lot about her to me. Couple of months ago she and her sister pulled a unknown text prank on me but I knew it was her sister and texted her next day that I knew and we had a causal talk. But when I told my girlfriend that I texted her sis, she flipped off and started belittle me that I am a nobody to text her even if she was the one who pulled the prank. Even at the present I wanted to watch the new Spiderman so badly and asked my girlfriend to go with me but she denied but she is going to watch the same movie with her sister so I asked her to go all three of us as tickets weren't easy to get but she denied that by saying it would be awkward between me and her sister and showed me discontent. I can't make any sense of it.

Your girlfriend has serious self-confidence issues because it looks as if she is afraid of you meeting her sister.

She must have had some previous negative experiences where a person she was possibly infatuated with favored her sister of her and that left her insecure. It could also be that she knows that her sister is attempting to flirt with you and she does not feel comfortable with that thought.

In any case, this issue of you meeting her sister causes some major discomfort to your girlfriend. I think you should have a serious conversation and ask her for the reasons of her behavior. This is not a healthy relation if you have to hide from her family members.

Sounds like she is afraid you will fall for her or she will fall for you or even worse, both could fall in love with each other.

As a boyfriend, you could ask her to be honist with you on why she doesn't want to introduce you to the family?
