My sister doesn't want me to date? Any advice?

So recently I was asked out by this girl who is in my physics class. We'd known each other for a while, and I'm very introverted so I accepted. I was curious more then anything.

I was telling my twin sister about this, and she wasn't happy with it. She said that she thought we should wait until were older to date, after 18. (We are 15 now). She said that it was really pointless and I should focus on school. She also said that she didn't want me to be spending all my time with some other girl (she'd get lonely).

I'm really conflicted about this whole situation. My sister and I are really close (we're twins), and so I'm leaning towards agreeing not to date for a while. I want her to be happy. But I still really would like to for the experience. I really don't know.

I really appreciate any opinions on what I should do!

Your your own person, you should be able to date if you want. Just make sure you don't completely forget about spending time with your sister. I don't really see the point in dating much when you can't drive yet though.

I agree with your sister but in the end it is your life and you need to make your choices and the same with her. You can't always do things because your sister told you to.

@asker what are you dating your sister now? How is it betrayal to make your own decisions? It's not like you are dating her and cheating on her with another girl.

No but I think she would feel like I'd be spending much less time with her - and possibly live another girl more at least from her perspective. She is an introvert like me.

You will still be around. It's not healthy for her to be so dependent on you she needs to widen her circle too.

I don't know I mean I guess its a good thing she doesn't plan to date for a while. What wouldn't be healthy is if she ended up doing disgusting things with some strange guy.

She is just being protective of you. If you want to date you can if you want. Just let her know that your her twin and will never leave her side. :)

She's not in charge of you, seriously don't let it take time from school and don't abandon your sis, but you can date if you want.

Your sister shouldn't be telling you what to do. Do what you feel. She isn't your parent.
