Girls, Why do girls giggle?

I was out shopping when I ran into a group of 4 girls around my age. I shared a glance with a few of them, but as I was walking out of the store they followed behind me, so I held the door open for them. They all said thank you and made eye contact, but as I was walking away I heard them giggling as a group. I’ve heard that girls giggle when they are nervous, but I am also a bit self conscious and wanted to know what y’all think. I don’t consider myself to be hideous, but I genuinely don’t know what they were laughing at.

Some girls may giggle when they are nervous just like some guys may become aggressive or super sensitive in the same situation.

The fact that those girls giggled does not have to mean that they giggled about you but it could just as well mean that they found something worth making a comment and then giggling about it.

In your story, I don't really see what could have made them nervous. Perhaps that you did a gesture that reminded them of somebody or that you behaved in a certain way that made them giggle. You should have turned around as asked them for their reason to giggle.

We have no way of knowing why. For all we know they could have been mid conversation before stopped by your interaction with them then finished it as they left. Maybe they did comment about you whether it be good or bad. Unfortunately there will never be a real way of knowing.

Just keep being your best version of you and try to move past this experience.
