Why do teenage girls giggle so much for no apparent reason?

Some girls' giggle is cute, but if they are doing it nonstop then I can see it being annoying. I don't really know why they do it as I'm not a girl, and I haven't really hanged out with a girl that has giggled a lot for no particular reason.

I've wondered why as well. When i was a teenager i use to do it as well.. it was annoying i annoyed myself at times when i kept getting the giggles at inappropriate moments.

It's when their fagiggly glands start developing so they giggle a lot to excerise it. Same way babies cry a lot when born to exercise their lungs and diaphragm.

I used to do it, too, although right now it's hard to believe!

Now I'm in my 30's and find this behavior UNBELIEVABLY annoying when I hear teens walking down the street, meandering through the store or sitting in a little clique at work giggling like a bunch of airheads.

I feel that girls do this to draw attention to themselves. "Look at me; I'm so cute! Look how much fun I'm having! Don't you wish you were having fun like me? Aren't I just adorable? I need attention!"

I think that's basically it. Besides, of course, the immaturity linked to it.

20-somethings do this, too, I've noticed.

I love to laugh and have a good time. I'm cheerful and joyful. But I don't have the energy to bounce off the walls or giggle nonstop, and I thrive more on CONNECTION than attention.

I like to tell stories or jokes to connect and bond with others rather than the purpose simply being the center of attention.

I like when everyone at work gets along, and I like to watch others laugh and have fun when I feel like I'm a part of it, even as a bystander.

But when I hear the annoying boisterous giggling from the cliquey teens down the hall, I'm unbelievably annoyed and just wish they would shut up.

That kind of behavior is so immature.

Uh, I hope I’m not annoying. I still get the giggles sometimes, but there’s usually a reason for it. My boyfriend makes me giggle a lot.
