Girls, Is it normal for sisters to do this?

My sister and I use to wrestle and fight a lot as kids. We don’t do it as much anymore but I went into her room and took her phone just to mess with her. She approached me on the couch and told me to give it back and started to try to wrestle it from me. She kept trying to take it from my hands but my grip is strong, so she slaps me in the nuts and I immediately let go. I was so shocked and in so much pain, but when I told me friend about it, she said it’s common for sisters to sometimes target their brothers there? Is that true?

Nooo! Not at all. You took her phone, and you did it deliberately, saying that you did it “to mess with her!” So, you kinda really deserved it! Ya know? I mean I literally hate hearing about someone getting hurt, because I’m so incredibly empathetic that even though I’ve obviously never even had any balls, I can still imagine how much it hurts, and then feel THAT pain! I hate it… usually! But with you screwing with your sister’s phone, and taking it? She must have been terrified. Just imagine what it’d be like for you just sitting there wondering who precisely has your phone, and just exactly what they’re gonna see when they open it? Yeah… you definitely deserved the ball tap.

I kinda get what you mean, I guess… It’s kinda weird though, because you can empathize with her – losing her phone and feeling like her privacy is at stake – but you don’t really empathize with me – getting struck in the ONE part of my body that puts me through the most pain possible. I wonder if that’s a disconnect between guys and gals. Why is it that if we mess with girls, they target that area? Is it cause you underestimate how much it hurts? It doesn’t make sense to me…

The thing about empathy (and I’ll put this in the most basic terms, so everyone reading can understand) it’s kinda like math. If I empathize with you only, you have a 100x physical pain, clearly that’s a lot! But then I realize that sister was likely having a 500x emotional pain, and a 100x anxiety induced panic attack! So in balance, your seemingly massive amount of pain, is comparatively very little.

That’s the thing. I think 100 physical pain is underestimating it though. I was definitely like 1000 pain or more, just cuz I had to lie down from the pain and hyperventilate afterwards
