High heels in the mud?

OK, so.. I am currently in the midst of writing a novel. My female character has been forced to continue on with her given assignment after her car has become stuck in the mud.
She is in high heels, but decides not to continue barefoot in case of potentially stepping on something to cause an injury. But, after a time, the ground turns muddy.

Has anyone ever had to walk through mud in heels? I'm requiring insight.

Yes and it is a horrible horrible thing you can break an ankle when they sink or fall over and stumble. If you want insight watch Bridget Jones Baby mud scene She does exactly this!

Ah yes, I've seen that. But I always thought that was simply because of her not looking where she was going?

Is it.. more likely a fall to happen because of the shoes sticking in the mud, or a slip occurring?

They dig in and your foot goes backwards usually. Or sideways but you can't stay stood on a thin piece of heel and remain upright long. Its impossible

I get you! Would one not walk almost tiptoe? / on the front of the feet to stop the heel sinking? Or is that just as troublesome?

Yes. It’s fking awkward as hell. Then there’s having afterwards to clean off a nice pair of shoes. 🙄
