I can't stand them. They ruin a perfectly good picture of her. Most of them are so immature too, especially the dog or cat one. It's like her age dropped down to 8 years old. Why in the world do they think a man will like these childish filter pictures of them?
I hate it when she blocks her face with a huge emoji. I want to see her face... Not block it... So annoying! Or some retarded Tierra filter on her head. Those things are so distracting. Ugh... I live in the wrong generation. I'm old school and just like good pictures unfiltered seeing her cute face and a smile.

My guess is they think it's cute. It's a way to hide their resting bitch face. The perfect way to hide their herpes sore, acne, or other flaws. I mean look at the ones that don't use filters... they will do angles from above to hide their double chin, show off their titts, or use their titts to hide their slouch belly. The ones that take pictures with various vacation destinations behind them are particularly annoying for me... I mean I don't care for reals. I was in the Navy and I've been all over the place too, so I simply don't care. Or pictures of their pets... I don't want to fuck your pets damn it. Women typically suffer from solipsism and thus think we'll think the same things they think when they see that stuff. Boobs and butt is about as close as they get to understand what a guy might like. The truth is a picture should serve as a way to make sure she's not retarded looking and not fat... sorry for my rant.
It's because the filters can hide blemishes and other imperfections that they're insecure about to make them look more attractive than they really are. Just view them as a big neon sign that points out which girls are more insecure than others because that's essentially what they are.
Personally, I only use filters in pictures where I'm not being serious (profile picture on here for example) for my own amusement or out of boredom but I use unfiltered pictures 99.9% of the time.
However, I would say a lot of women (and men) use the filters for two main reasons, One: Insecurity, the need to fit in and not wanting to be judged. Two: To not be recognisable usually because they don't have any intention of meeting you in person if on a dating site.
This was helpful in understanding the female psychology side of things. I think where it digs at dudes the most, is the filter gives off an instant demotion of intelligence. It looks stupid to dudes basically. Then it becomes "triggering" when the females seem completely unaware of how stupid they look. I mean props to those doing it on purpose and want to look stupid or be taken less seriously... I mean I removed my profile picture and replaced it with what I got because I got sick of getting hit on, so I understand that motive. It's the ones that really do seem to think the filter is helping them out. They think it, we know they think it, and that's the annoying bit is that they don't even realize they're not helping themselves out.
Again though, totally understand if avoiding getting hit on stuff is the goal. But that's obviously not the case when they're trying to be sexy as hell (to attract attention), and then has a dog face.
Lol I totally get it, this generation sucks and I catch myself posting with filters as well. Not so much the cat and dog because those are getting old now. I get it though it would be nicer if people would just stop because no one is perfect and those filters def hid a lot of imperfections
I find it useful - it’s a good way to save time. If she has dog ears or some stupid pixelated shit all over her face then I know that she’s one to avoid and I can move on to someone else. Ironically, the filters are actually filters themselves - they filter out the insecure/immature and save me wasting time on them. I can’t over-emphasise how much I hate them
Because we live in an era wear everyone is trying to look like some sort of fictional fake character. Today, you can pretty much look and identify as whatever you please. I also think that it comes from a place of feeling self conscious. Unrealistic beauty standards have been forced so much, it literally got to people's heads and that's where you have social media and society to blame. Everybody wants to look like everyone and everything else but how they were born.

Too much makeup can do one of two things, 1. make you look horrible like clown or 2. make you look completely different. in a good way
when you take it off and you look like a complete different person, that's the one that can be compared to a filter.

I see you only like to generalize filters but you defend makeups. It's not different if i generalize makeup you know. I'm not defending filters also because i don't like the idea of girls wearing makeup to change their face which also happens a lot. If they are not really insecure then it wouldn't be the case that they get salty over an app that actually remove their makeup

I think that some people use filters or things that block their face to cover their insecurities. In most cases you wouldn't want someone see things that you are insecure about.
If I could guess, they have no real intentions on meeting you in person, they want to less noticeable or not wanting people to recognize them.. Sometimes you want to be social without people you know personally recognize you. It also just depends, sometimes they lie about their age, or sometimes they do it because they aren’t necessarily trying to impress.
I understand it for fun... but when it comes to dating it's not cute or funny we want to see the women's full face not a filter plastered over it or distorting it. It's a major turn off when dating and a fast way to make men go "nope!"
"Your generation"? Selfie craze didn't even exist in other generations. Having a phone with a camera and taking endless pictures of yourself... that is just 20 years or so. Before... people had real camera and film and you had to get in a photo booth or use a Polaroid to get instant pictures. Plus there was no social media to immediately stick the pictures on.
Most of them use filters because they're insecure of how their face looks. When they take the filter off they think or they really have an ugly face lol so they think they can fool other people looking young or whatever.
We are not 100% to blame. Some dating apps did that automatically, like that dog one. You had to upload a pic to show you are real and then they slap a dog nose and ears on you and stick it on your profile.
