Girls, Are you afraid men will try to harass you if you walk too close to them?

I was walking to the grocery store, and this woman coming from the other direction squeezed herself between the bike racks and the wall to avoid walking too close to me. Another girl walked out in the street on the other side of the trees for the same reason. I feel like I'm normal and I shower every day. I don't know what's wrong with me. I don't look or stare at them either.

Well, yeah I guess. I kinda avoid everyone and walk further than I should when I’m in public. Not just men. I just don’t like to be walking shoulder to shoulder or be close enough to people that they could touch me or try and start conversation. I don’t like talking to strangers or be touched by them.

I'm not sure about everyone but growing up, my mom always hounded me to be careful of men and my surroundings especially when alone.

She honestly terrified me so I'll do things like that only because she told me to always be on the watch and to avoid as much as possible to keep myself safe and out of any possible situation.

It's not you but it's scary to be a woman in this day and age. It's better to be overly paranoid than possibly sorry.
