My ex dumped me in a text a month ago. I got no closure at all. She ignored all attempts I made to contact her via phone, text, or email. She was even as shallow as to have her own mother email me back. She was my whole world, my everything. Her actions and following silence have pushed me into resentment. I don't wish her badly in life, but at this point I would never entertain taking her back. Actually, I don't even know I'd want to be friends.

How Long Does It Take to Get Over a Breakup?
It’s been said that it takes half the length of the relationship to get over a breakup. So, if you were dating someone for two years, it would take you one year to get over them. This may or may not be true for everyone, but it is a general guideline. Of course, there are other factors that can affect how long it takes to get over a breakup.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. The Length of the Relationship
The longer you were together, the longer it will take to get over the breakup. This is because you have more invested in the relationship and you’ve likely built up a stronger connection. When you’ve been together for a long time, it’s not just the relationship you’re losing, but also the shared history, experiences, and future plans. It can be difficult to let go of all of that.
2. The Reason for the Breakup
If the breakup was mutual and amicable, it will be easier to get over than if it was sudden and unexpected. If there was infidelity or betrayal involved, it will also be harder to move on. This is because you’ll need to rebuild trust and learn to forgive, which can take time.
3. Your Emotional Response
How you respond to the breakup will also affect how long it takes to get over it. If you’re able to process your emotions and let them out, you’ll likely heal quicker than if you bottle them up. It’s important to allow yourself to grieve and to be patient with the process.
4. Your Support System
Having a supportive network of family and friends can make a big difference in how you cope with a breakup. They can provide a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, and helpful advice. If you don’t have a strong support system, consider reaching out to a therapist or counselor.
5. Your Coping Mechanisms
How you cope with a breakup will also affect how long it takes to get over it. If you’re able to find healthy coping mechanisms, such as exercise, journaling, or talking to friends, you’ll likely heal quicker. However, if you turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as alcohol or drugs, it will only prolong the healing process.
No two breakups are the same, so there is no definitive answer to the question, “How long does it take to get over a breakup?” It depends on a variety of factors, including the length of the relationship, the reason for the breakup, your emotional response, your support system, and your coping mechanisms. Just remember to be patient with yourself and to give yourself time to heal.
Can you truly lose feelings for someone?
It is often said that you cannot lose feelings for someone, but that is not entirely accurate. While it is true that you cannot simply turn your emotions off like a light switch, it is possible to lose feelings for someone. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as growing apart or having a major disagreement. It is also possible to lose feelings for someone if they do something that causes you to question your relationship.
- In some cases, people lose feelings for someone because they have been hurt by them. If someone repeatedly cheats on you or lies to you, it is only natural that your feelings would start to change. You may also lose feelings for someone if they do something that is unforgivable, such as cheating or lying. If someone hurts you deeply, it is only natural that your feelings would change.
- It is also possible to lose feelings for someone simply because the relationship has run its course. This is often the case with marriages that end in divorce. After years of being together, it is not uncommon for people to simply fall out of love. In these cases, it is often best to simply move on.
So, while it is not possible to simply turn your feelings off, it is possible to lose feelings for someone. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as growing apart, having a major disagreement, or being hurt by the person.

Guys don't really get over a woman since they are not so resilient emotionally like we are. We end are emotions more than they do so we can rode those waves better.
But the saving grace is that en are much more pragmatic and realise acting emotionally is unwise. So many men have a woman that will always be in their heart but marry and be happy or at least able to be a husband and appreciate whoever fits the bill as wife which is often not based on love at all. Not to say it isn't a part of it. Many men are married put of duty, compassion and appreciation.
I'm not lookin' for the one
Later, but for now I'm havin' fun
I'm done 'cause I always get hurt
Won't be here for long
Baby, you can hate me if you want
But now I gotta put myself first
We can kiss, we can touch
And do it often
But if you're here lookin' for love
That's when you've lost me
Yeah, yeah
We can kiss, we can touch
And do it often
But if you're here lookin' for love
That's when you've lost meIt really depends, if it was my fault I would feel terrible for a long time and regret what I'd done.
If she was in the wrong and it was all her fault, the time to lose feelings would be less but still painful especially if you really loved her.
If she really screwed us over most of thoughts of her will be negative. On average it takes one half of the time a couple was together. This can be shortened, if he finds a new girl though.
I had an emotional affair with a close friend. Fell madly in love with her. She fell in love with me too. I ended it a year ago. Still hurts like hell...
If she screwed me over? Not long, maybe half the time that the relationship lasted.
If I lost her because I blew it? Never. Not completely anyway.the feelings will never go away. just like the certainty that she's the wrong person to be with.
Usually until the next one comes along.
Depends on how much feelings invested I had in her
Until I fall for someone new
