I don't know but i think it's really cringe to give your child a japanese name of you can't speak japanese or actually live in japan

I don’t actively live in Japan but I do speak Japanese enough to have a broken conversations and get myself around in Japan. Most English names are boring as hell. I was also thinking Greek like Athena or Aphrodite or Hera (I am a straight up bastard in the old meaning of the term and was adopted because my bio mom was a couple bitch who should never had kids but she had kids to go on welfare) im pretty sure given my hair and eyes color I’m Swedish but I don’t know Swedish. American girl names are lame same with boy names unless it Arthur because of King Arthur (sorry also a history nerd)

nope, still wouldn't go with a japanese name.
i think greek names are okay, in germany they are at least somewhat common and everyone knows how to pronounce them. that's generally what i would consider: once i send my child to school, will people have issues pronouncing their name?

Maybe for sons I was thinking Leonidas (think the spartan 300 battle of Thermopylae) THIS IS SPARTA that kind of thing. Of course Aries is the god of war. Athena is the goddess of the hunt and Wisdom and Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty most English names are lame and I want to name my kids after famous figures in history.

Of course I could name her Theodosia or Eliza. Theorosia was Aaron burrs wife and daughters name (unfortunately his daughter died in a ship reck at 29 years old). And Eliza was the wife of Hamilton. In the United States we honor our founding father but don’t really honor what I call the founding mothers. “Behind every great man is a great women scowling in the background” of course I could name her Melania (yes I’m a trump fan but that’s beside the point of what we are talking about here)

in the end it's your choice how to name your future kids. i think the most important things to consider is wether people will able to easily pronounce their name/other kids won't be able to easily bully them because of it. i for example really like a lot of french names for women but because people in germany can't speak french for shit i won't give them to my kids if i ever have any

Make sense the United States is a melting pot of different racist names cultures. I’ve known people with common in there home country names but not common here like Mohammid or Achmed (they were saudis) or Chu un (Koreans wash was my history of Korea and China teacher in college) or matsuda and Shinsuke (Japanese). Alton (Jamaican) Sofia (I think that Italian). I knew a guy named Lou dong form Hong Kong. The guy at the smoke shop I went to before I move was named Yamasaki (another Japanese guy) also known Jose, Henrique who were Mexicansthe hardest names to pronounce normally are from Sweden or Israel or Iceland like saviorn or black American names like Zane or something to that affect. A lot of race and people from different backgrounds here. Unless you named your kid something like Gaylord you won’t really be made fun of, some are harder to pronounce then others though

That make sense I’m white (like think Thor without the 6 pack) but I understand Japanese fairly well not fluent but good enough to get me around and have broken conversations. I just think you average American names are boring. I would like a name with some historical background (historian also Japanese nerd)

Your right, you don’t see many women named Theodosia she was Aaron burrs wife and daughter (he named his daughter after his wife) My nieces are named Asha (which means hope in Somalian her dad is form Somalia). And my younger niece is named zane we call her juju. I come from a mixed race family I was adopted so I’m not black myself. But I do like unique names maybe Melania even though I’m not Slovenian. Or Hellen after Hellen of Troy I don't know I’ve been sick and have been isolating myself so all I have right now are my own thoughts
