Heck, me and my family is just a stones throw away from returning back to Amish/Mennonite lifestyle.
We live day to day life almost the same way, but with a few modern day things thrown in. (Like internet, a home telephone, electricity and indoor plumbing) But we do use everyday is wood burning cooking stove, no gas or electric cooking for us. Our heat with wood/coal, that's not gas or electric as well.
We did cave in for a hot water heater. That just saved a lot of work of heating up water all the time.
Could we return to back to the 100% Amish/Mennonite ways. Sure but it would be hard. We gotten lazy with some of the modern things.
I'm not too familiar with it, what does simple living mean? I live simple, I live in my apartment, order food every day, play games and work remotely. Is that the same? Is the only difference where my apartment is?

Before the cottagecore aesthetic took off, outdoorsy/country lifestyles had exclusively hyper-masculine aesthetics tied to them. Even now, most outdoors gear you’ll find either has some reference to being “military grade”, comes in stereotypically masculine colors, or was exclusively designed with male body in mind. Cottagecore flips the script on this entirely, and I love it for that in addition to just being super cute :) so if that’s your thing, then just enjoy it
I didn't know this was a thing. I wonder if there are a lot of "cores" when it comes to stuff like this. Also, they should do what makes them happy. If living 'cottage-core' is fulfilling to them, then more power to them. There's enough miserable people as it is.
Very cool, it means she probably has a lot of useful skills and is resourceful, likely able to repair things around the house. I would guess she probably loves to read as well. Never met someone who's into cottagecore who isn't also really interesting
Hey if it makes you happy I say go for it. What others think about the way you live doesn’t matter or change anything. Often people get caught up in the material things. I admit I am just as bad as others but if you sit and think about it and are over the age of say 40yrs old. We never had cell phones or computers much less IPads o laptops. We spent more time actually socializing and doing things with friends. Going places doing actual things not just simulated tech game
Does that also include growing your own crops and living off the land so to speak? I have friends who live like that. They are always so relaxed that I envy them a little sometimes. If that's what you want to do, based on how happy they are I suggest you try it.
There is an interesting geopolitical theory that we’re actually on the edge of a drastic shift away from globalism, consumerism and instead of clustering in cities, many people- especially in Western countries are going to spread out and shift to a more rural lifestyle over the next generation. Since society seems to be breaking apart at the seems it could be closer to reality than we think. You may get that lifestyle after all.
It is amazingly empowered and environmentally endorsed. Cottage should be in of our futures in a sane world. Provide a little attention to security the only overlooked thing
It would be weird to just imitate a ''lifestyle'' or to try and look like it without ''meaning'' it. I'm all for the ''hardcore'' cottage-thing. About lifestyle-freeloaders and posers - I can only smirk.
