Why did she repeat what I said to him?

I messaged an ex co worker something on Facebook. I deleted my Facebook before I gave him a chance to respond. One of my other co workers apparently keeps in contact with him. She quoted and worked into the conversation what I said to him with one other person in the room who may or may not know.
Why do you think she did that, why did she want me to know she knew? I was to embarrassed to question her.
