Girls, I went to a self defense class and I was the only guy there, is that common?

I don’t think it matters. You get paired with who your Sensei pairs you with and you do as your told.

Yeah but it was kinda awkward for me once we started practicing groin strikes

Groin strikes are forbidden universally in martial arts classes…

This is a self defense class

Even so. You’re not allowed to physically hurt someone in those classes, you’re taught how to defend yourself without harming your partner. It would demonstrated in a controlled way. Other wise they put themselves at risk of a lawsuit.

We’re using pads and stuff, but it’s still awkward

Well it’s a self defence class. It’s not meant to be a fun day out.

I took Karate classes from the age of 10 to 15, I learned quite a bit from them
