Since clout and attention are so highly prized on the internet now, it is an easy way to get a dopamine rush. Like a drug or any addiction, it's just a newer form. There have always been attention seekers throughout society. Still, now that it is so easy to get multiple people to like your post and your life, it is spreading among adults, teenagers, and children. Also, it isn't only relegated to women. And it is also men that get sucked into the chase of clout. Many grown men and women have always been more critical of young women regarding what they post. For example, young men pose shirtless at the gym. They are simply recording their gains. Young women are clothed in the gym, so they look for attention from men. Maybe, but I also think men are looking for attention, just like some women posting gym selfies. I agree with you, but I don't believe in singling out women for an addiction. Men are more likely to fall addicted to something, so why would that change for social media? Some use drugs, alcohol, sex, or even caffeine to fix their problems, and others use social media. Social media will only grow into a more significant issue for young people.
