Girls, I have a question on my next step?

I have been texting friend's with a female since mid-summer. I previously knew her from a convenience store where she worked and I shopped. I again met her when I was riding by the grocery store and she was outside on break. (She had a nasty departure from her former employer. I defended her side of things to the hilt.) This is logistically the route that one would anticipate me taking to and from work whether or not she existed. I even mentioned this the next day when I came by.

The second meeting I took her number. She indicates she wants me to come by. We played conversational texting games. Sometimes she responds. Other times she does not. I keep the texts to low frequency. Also, phone tag. I have asked her if she would like to meet on her weekends. At the time she was making excursions to another part of the state for familial business. She still seems engaging when she sees me though stressed. What would be the best thing for me to do next?

The actual question is:

What is your goal, your final aim with this girl?

Is your untold goal to get into her pants, to be intimate with her or is it just to be friends, casual friends that is with no other intentions than to have a few conversations?

From your account, it seems that she is not in a hurry to get further than just to text you or call you from time to time. She seems to be apprehensive about what could happen and my fear is that she is not ready to go where you probably would like to go yourself.

Your only option is to respect her apprehensions and not to insist.

I mean, you are 47 and attempting to be intimate with that person should not be your priority anymore. I presume that this lady is in the same age group as you. Why not just be friends? Perhaps that is what she would like but again, I believe that she is apprehensive to go further than just being friends.

Adult age gap is a secondary issue anyway you cut it. I don't want to go there. Let's just say she is definitely an adult and the same reasons that she is legal will be the same in a thousand years. Now, she may be apprehensive for a variety of reasons. I want to get to know her better and I obviously have a non-platonic interest. However, getting in her pants is not the only thing I am after.

Texting won't get you anywhere. Talk to her face to face if you want to make real progress.

We talk face to face when I go by there en route from work when she is out front on break and not busy - then it is just a salutation wave. This is problematic. Even - if not especially - since she is management and is the customer's do girl. I was just using another way of rapport that has not existed until recently.
