Girls, Why is it extremely hilarious to you see a guy get abused?

My girlfriend cheated on me twice, so I left our relationship. Her reason as to why she cheated was because I was undergoing bankruptcy, and she just bragged about sleeping with another guy.

When I decided to leave she HAD THE AUDACITY TO BEAT ME UP. (never fought back)

I tried reporting this to the cops but they just fucking laughed at me like I'm bluffing.

Why do women find it funny when a guy gets abused?

I am completely heartbroken after she betrayed me like this, especially after spoiling her with gifts that she wanted, she turned out to abuse my kindness. When I decided to leave, she not only caused me emotional but PHYSICAL damage.

Why on earth would I, or any other sane girl, think it is funny to see a guy (or anyone for that matter) physically assaulted? You are making a very dangerous general statement. I am confident that you aren't going to find any girls here that will back your claim up that we find it funny.

Physically attacking or assaulting someone is not humourous at all. It shows immaturity and lack of judgement. It isn't something anyone should do, regardless of gender.

This ex of yours sounds like a crazy person, toxic and immature. You did the right thing by leaving her. I would have left her after the first time cheating.

Cheating is the most disgusting and vile act of betrayal in a relationship and not something that should ever be forgiven. You should have got out the first time. At least you learned your lesson and left her for good the second time.

Once a cheater, always a cheater. Unfortunately, you found that out the hard way. I also find it hard to believe that the authorities laughed and did not investigate. What backwards country are you from might I ask?

Ok. I am not from the US. This seems crazy to me that the police would not investigate a physical assault. Then again, not being from your country, I cannot say for sure. I could tag some US users I know and see if they can help.

@bigpauly @SecretsofKB @Ez-Bri-Z_v2 is this sort of thing commonplace in the US? Seems this gentleman cannot get the authorities to take him seriously. If true, that is a really sad failure.

No man or woman should be able to assault another person and get away with it.

That's news to me. Police usually have to investigate reports of abuse seriously regardless of gender. Where there usually is a discrepancy is in the punishment phase. Women do usually get off lighter on their sentences if convicted.

Oh, and no, it isn't funny for men to be abused.

At no point do I find abuse or assault of anyone funny...

And a friend of mine used to be a police officer. He's told me a few stories of women being arrested for domestic violence due to what they've done to their make partners. Police almost certainly take those accusations and situations very seriously.

@omegaguy i am from pennsylvania as well, go back and make a police report ask for a sargent if you have to. no self respecting officer would laugh at you. you need that documented in case she escalates and to have actual previous statement. i work in healthcare and had a woman spit on me at a store while i was in my uniform and on the clock with a patient, for no reason whatsoever and i even chose to file a report just to have and establish that this happened and its documented should something further happen with her.

I don't find that funny at all - in your case, that's abuse. I think a lot of men do find it insignificant though - they think you're a sissy or wimp or something. It's the part of sexist patriarchy that hurts men - men are supposed to be strong and physically dominant and not hurt by a little woman. Men are supposed to be emotionally immune to the impact of what you've gone through. This is why feminists hate sexism. It hurts everyone, literally.

Here's a much more important question though - What are you going to do to address your attraction to toxic, abusive women who don't respect or value you? Are you ready to talk to a therapist who can help you identify your specific childhood trauma that is making you stay in relationships with people who most likely showed disrespect long before the cheating confession and kicking your ass? There's something going on with your picker here.

Thanks for the answer. I've not yet successfuly filed a case against her since the cops who sassed me while reporting this we're females. As for therapy, I would be doing just that in the near future since currently, my bucks is low.

I'm not sure it's because they're women. It may be because they don't think there's probable cause to warrant any charge/arrest. (see below) I encourage you to do some research and call a lawyer to understand your rights and options. (there are free hotlines for legal advice out there, use the internet to find them, especially anything local)

Here's what a website for my state says about this:

"What will happen if I report the domestic violence to the police?

If the police are called to the scene because you are being abused, they must make an arrest (or file charges) if they have probable cause to believe a family offense misdemeanor or a felony has been committed against you. To determine probable cause, police will look at whether or not there is evidence such as bruises, torn clothing, overturned furniture, witnesses to the violence, etc. In addition, the police must make an arrest if a stay away order of protection has been violated or if a family offense has been committed in violation of an order of protection.

The police are not required to make an arrest if there is only probable cause to believe a violation level crime (harassment 2nd or disorderly conduct) was committed. However, if a criminal violation has been committed, the police should inform you of your right to press charges or proceed in Family Court by filing a family offense petition (as long as your relationship meets Family Court’s definition of members of the same family or having a close personal relationship)."
