Girls, What causes a girl to treat a guy differently in comparison to others?

If I treat a guy differently and it's passive thing, it might be intimidation or guilt. I don't always feel good around attractive guys, sometimes I feel intimidated or threatened by them, but this is only if there is a level of attraction or competition involved. If I treat a guy differently and it's a proactive thing, it might mean I see some aspect in them where I feel I can be useful and I want to apply it for their benefit.

She and I have has this eye contact thing. When I can tell when she wants to talk to me when we lock eyes. I can then feel drawn to her when this happens

When I was in high school there was this outgoing popular guy in my class and he always tried to talk to me but I would freeze up and not know what to say but like with his friends and that I could chat with them all the time freely and we would get along a lot, I honestly think my crush thought I hated him because I only treated him like that, but it was love xD

Would that explain why she is quieter with me as oppose to other guys/girls. I honestly think she hates me. But then I get confused that she makes some effort to start really small conversation with me. I ask question to keep it flowing, but she seems to struggle to keep talking to me. Which is another reason which makes me think she hates me

I highly doubt she hates you since she tries to make conversation. I bet she just is having a hard time because she is nervous and doesn't want to say something dumb to you.

But there is something going on. For example of her starting small talk with me, one was when I was at the bar getting a drink she said " what are you drinking?" Or another thing the sane night asking me from across the table " did it just get louder in here?"
