I rarely call a guy "bro," even if he's a close friend (I know how some guys feel about a girl calling them that). It's just like when we call guys "dude."

But usually if I call a guy bro, it's done in a joking, "You're a good friend and I feel comfortable around you" sort of way. Or he did/said something stupid and it warrants me calling him bro like one of the guys.

Don't read too much into it. It's just a friendly term for a guy we're close or hanging out with.

It means that she's just being friendly aaand usually that she'll punch a girl for you. Because ya close like that. I mean I haven't been called "bro" but from what I've seen, it's usually a good, trustworthy thing.

When a woman uses Bro, she is trying to bond in some way. She can be telling you that you two are friends, she wants to be your friend, or setting you up for the commonality stage moving into boyfriend stage. Any girl that I have ever had call me BRO was soccer and surfing... we shared interests and hobbies but were not close friends.
