How does everyone keep there house tidy?

Im a single mum of 2 boys ages 1 and 4 and im struggling to get my house as clean as i like any tips?

Designate certain rooms for certain things. For example, if you have space for a play room, make sure that toys are only used in the play room. That way you can contain the mess to that specific area and you can tackle that when you have time. If you let toys all over the house or in the major living areas, it will seem like everything is messier than it really is. You could also do things like limiting specific times for when messy activities take place and when the time comes to end the activities, actively train the kids to immediately clean themselves or the area they were using. It reinforces tidy living and could improve things as they grow older. The most important part about keeping things in order is having a set schedule that is followed regularly. Of course you allow room for flexibility when needed but trying to stay on track with schedules helps so much in the long run. If we're talking about just dirt or whatever on the floors, honestly that just happens.

Clean as you go. Teach your sons to pick up after themselves when they are done playing with something.

Well, the 4 year old anyway... though it is good to start early so try to make it like a game.

Tidy for you will not be tidy for other people. Try to pick one room (like the living room) when someone first enters your home and make it known that room isn’t a play zone. That way the kids can play in other parts of your house and if you are being a host then you can at least present that one room well.


Also anyone who visits should give Grace that kids live there and it’s expected to be a level of messy.

by the way I live in my house alone so it stays clean weekly and I also clean more on the weekends (vacuum, dust, bathrooms..)

Declutter, reduce shopping for anything that isn't essential, and organize. Do deep cleans, and maybe hire a housekeeper.

A cleaning lady once a week will put thing the way you want in under 2 hours and it will mostly stay that way for a few days.
