Is it vaguely bitchy if a girl says to another girl “yeah you should do that it will make you stand out” when she tells her she taken up a new hobby?

Bare in mind, they both like the same guy. And the girl she says this to is heavier and a few years older and the guy though he flirts with her, is pursuing the other girl. Was it a put down?

I always think that you should take the phrase and try saying it and what you’d mean if you said that to someone. Then you’d have your answer.

But to answer your question, yes, it is very passive aggressive. Literally implying you don’t stand out much in other ways. The passive aggressiveness always comes after the initial statement so that’s how you’ll know.. like someone saying “I like you hair, the curls really hide the split ends” or “you would be good at writing since it doesn’t require much effort”…passive aggressive.

I doubt it then. If they like the same guy, why would the younger one encourage the bigger one to do something that would make her stand out to him? This also makes me think the bigger girl is in her own head about the competition aspect of the situation and the younger one who has more of his attention doesn’t realize the other woman’s feelings. The bigger one sounds slightly insecure, or maybe she should back off when he’s more interested in the other one anyway.
