Uh, why would this just be a girl thing? If I have to pee really bad, yes it feels good when I actually do. I don't know how this would differ from guys unless there is something that I just don't know.

It isn't good to hold it in for that long that you feel such a relief when you finally do go. Your body is trying to get rid of stuff it has processed and doesn't need anymore. It is no different than any waste the body produces.

To hold that in is not a good thing. If done enough and over a long period of time, it can actually create some medical complications. Best to just go when you have to go. It isn't like it is hard to find a washroom, even when out in public. That or just watch how much you drink if you are going to be out and about for a while. That is what I do. Just limit intake.

I’ve actually experienced that before with my former girlfriend she had to go so bad at Walt Disney World, that she had to pee in a cup in the Rent-A-Car SUV
