Girls don’t enjoy receiving information that threatens our self-esteem, shatters our preexisting beliefs, makes our daily lives more difficult, or threatens our status.
Girls also don’t respond to truth as well as men; in that we seek comfort and reassurance before we seek a solution to our problems. Men, on the other hand, are quick to solve or fix problems. Emotion comes before logic a lot of the times. She was probably already feeling unattractive and your words just confirmed her fears rather than comforted.
So I should have lied to her?
No. Next time, don’t be so quick to be blunt
Because women don't handle truth very well.
When a woman asks how she looks but only wants to hear what she wants to hear she should probably put that as a disclaimer then. When I ask a question I do it because I want a truthful response.
