So in the land of online dating it's not unusual for me to message cute girls on facebook. Occassionally if I comment on something, this will be the stuck up response I get. Usually it's not a good thing if they've said this i've found. It's not like I message anything offensive to them, so I always wonder why I get this as a response.

Turned out she was married. Took her all of two seconds to mention that one. So I responded saying, oh so you're just automatically assuming I like you already? lmao.

fyi: It didn't show she was married, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. I'm not a total idiot.

I cannot speak for all girls, but I can offer a possible explanation. It's possible that the girls are simply trying to establish whether or not they have met you before or have some kind of prior connection. They may also be trying to gauge your intentions in messaging them, as some people may use social media to spam or harass others. It's also possible that they are not interested in talking to strangers on social media and are trying to politely decline your advances. In any case, if someone responds with "do I know you?" it may be a sign that they are not interested in continuing the conversation. It's important to respect their boundaries and move on.
I've just never had a good experience with a girl that came off like that.
I usually don't respond if that's their first reaction to me.
It's understandable that you may have had negative experiences with girls who respond that way. However, it's important to keep in mind that everyone is different and may have different reasons for their reactions. It's always a good idea to be polite and respectful in your interactions, even if the other person is not showing the same courtesy. If someone's response makes you uncomfortable, it's okay to move on and not continue the conversation.
I would suggest trying to message them directly (through the app or some other way). I get a ton of creepy dudes in my comments, so I sometimes ask this. If you truly didn't comment something offensive, just respond and say something along the lines of "Not yet, but we matched on (apps name)". Like I said, DMs are gonna be way easier than comment sections.
That's what I did.
