Should she get the tattoo? Husband doesn't approve.

To commemorate her upcoming birthday, my friend wanted to get a small tasteful (hidden) tattoo but her husband objects. He even threatened to divorce her if I did it. However she feels like its her milestone and she has always wanted it. I think she should get the tattoo regardless (he will get used to it eventually). What do you think

He threatened divorce? Seriously? If he is doing that, it's techincally considered a form of manipulative warfare and psychological abuse, according to psychologists. Anyway, if she really wants the tattoo, she should get it! I got two tattoos that my husband wasn't too thrilled about and he LOVES them now - he's even thinking of getting one.

Anyway, I think if she wants it, go for it. He can suck it up. :)

Here's the thing, if he was the one wanting the tattoo, then chances are he would get it regardless of what she wanted. It sounds like he's a controlling and manipulative husband and she should just go ahead and do what she wants. If he really does end up filing for divorce over it, then good luck to him filling out the paperwork and explaining that he's divorcing her over a tattoo.

She should also get a new husband.

Marriage isn't about only doing what your partner approves.

Would her husband be okay if she didn't want sex for a month? Most likely no.

Marriage especially isn't about doing what your partner wants because of threats.

Guys & girls are on the opposite side because to a guy a woman's body is his property and she shouldn't do anything to it that he dislikes aka tattoos, piercings, aging, or gain weight.

If the tattoo is more important to her than her husband, she should get it. And if the tattoo is more important to him than his wife, he should divorce her.

Maybe he always told himself he'd never marry a woman with a tattoo, and he didn't.

If its worth losing her marriage, then go for it. If my wife was that opposed to me doing something to my body, I definitely wouldn't ignore her opinion on it.

If he's threatening to divorce her over a tattoo she should divorce him anyway, he sounds like a jerk (unless he was joking in which case it's whatever). Especially if it's small and discreet and something she's always wanted she should do it. You get tattoos for you, not for everyone else. Some of my guy friends told me not to get a tattoo because it was trashy, when I got it the worst comment I got was, "Oh that's not that bad," and the best was, "That's actually kinda hot."
