If they are ugly and unattractive why would someone be in a relationship with them? That seems illogical? How can you be in a relationship with someone you are not attracted to?

As for friendship, I can be friends with anyone who I get on well with, their looks would not matter.

There is no criteria for someone to be ugly to me, it simply is just preference. I could have two guys in front of me both with a beard, long brunette hair, almond eyes, and glasses, but only be attracted to one, despite them sharing all those features. So it’s not a checklist or a criteria for me.
