He could of wanted to be friends first, before starting up a relationship. Guys usually do that when they aren't ready or are testing the waters. They like to get to know you first before making it obvious that they are interested. When you call him a friend, he think your not interested and will move on to other date other guys and he thinks he has lost his chance or is close to it. I hope you guys can work things out.

He sounds like a coward and if he does like you he is hiding it with cruelty.
I like to mess with some people that I think like me. If they tell me to do something, I will tell them “yes dear” and it is a pretty good indicator of how they feel. You know if they like me calling them dear or if they get upset by it 😆

It sounds like it was a good move.
If he was belittling you then you need to stay away from him before it turns to something worse.
I am curious to see if he will approach you at work. My guess is he will either ignore you or confront you about blocking him so I would be careful if I were you. It might be worth trying to leave before he gets there ( if you have a bad feeling about it. I don't know if I am reading too much into it or not)

Saying wanting to be friends is safer and less risk of immediate rejection than asking for a date. Unfortunately women usually don't catch the fact that most guys want to date women they find attractive, not watch them date other guys, so they get friend zoned.
