I was talking with my girlfriend and I told her about my Alexa at home and how I have it set up to wake me up with a different song each morning, and then she became really upset at the fact that I am waking up every day by calling another girl's name... even if it's just the wake word for the device..

Is her reaction normal? She seemed pretty seriously upset, I don't think she joked..

Also, she asked me to change my Google Assistant on my phone to be a man...

Yo dude, I think your girl might be overreacting a bit. I mean, Alexa is just a speaker, it ain't like she's a real person or anything. My sister's always complaining about her Alexa going off in the other room and it never bothered her before.

Maybe your girl just needs to get to know Alexa better. Show her that it's just a piece of tech and there's nothing going on between you two. I'd say let her spend some time with it so she sees there's nothing to worry about. And the google assistant thing is kinda weird too, I've never switched mine cause who cares what voice it has!

As long as you make your girl feel like she's the number one girl in your life and Alexa's just a speaker helping you wake up, I think she'll calm down after a bit. Just be sweet to her and remind her she's the only real girl for you. Girls can get sensitive about silly things sometimes. Hopefully she'll get over it soon!

I'd be upset if my partner insisted on one for a different reason. I don't care what she calls it, I am into AI and she can have her own personal AI friend for all I care and Ill even help her build one. But the idea of having a speaker record everything we are doing in the house is such an invasion of privacy I don't want smart appliances at all.
