Yes. Emotional age is a reflection of how you respond to emotional triggers. I know a few people who had rough childhoods and expressed emotions far below that of their age. Example being they would throw a tantrum like a 2 year old but they were 8 or 9. Emotional age is specifically seen in the first 4-6 years. And their is a standard that is published as to what is seen as "typical response" so those above that are emotionally older and those below are emotionally younger.
That def makes sense well i am emotionally younger for sure.
That is potentially unfortunate. Most common causes of that are negative though a couple positive ones. Good news is you aren't bound to that. As you experience things you will slowly increase it and it will eventually catch up to your current age
Maturity level in a sense, yes...
Ok so i can be labeld a lower age maturity level?
Yes you can be if you are less matured mentally emotionally than your age.
@StarWarGirl i asked a couple close people and they confirned i am def immature emotionally.
It's totally alright. You can train yourself to act more mature whenever you want to at any age. It's not so impossible. As far as you accept this truth that you are immature, and you are willing to improve yourself.
@StarWarGirl ok so i asked 3 people my mom my sister and my girlfriend and all 3 confirmed it so would that be deal sealed lol?
I think i accept that i am immature. My mom said i am 22 going on 15 she dont make stuff up. But how can i be 15 and 22 lol?
Ofcourse it's very much possible. 15 years old means a teenage boy, more agressive, more playful, less responsible, less closer to reality but more into dream world a little bit far from reality. A 22 year old boy would be moving towards reality, he would be almost planned his life on the ground of reality and he would be moving towards it he would be inbetween his path towards goal. He would be taking responsibility, he would be less playful more responsible. So if your real age is 22. But you are acting like 15 years old then definitely you are 15 and 22 both at same time.
@StarWarGirl ok then ypu def described me to a T lol. I am not responsible at all!! I was told i throw tantrums lol. I dont have a job either and im def dreamy!! So is it official immature lol?
Hahaha, yes throwing tantrum at 22 is definitely immature. Sorry 😂
@StarWarGirl lol dont be sorry never realized any of this until it was presented to me. I always thought once 18 hit i am an adukt and thats it.
You are not the only person who believed such. Many people believe so. And so after they cross 18 they start revolting more telling that they are now adult. But our brain doesn't work that way.
An animal is born as animal but a human needs to learn throughout their growing period. Some learn faster some learn slow some stop learning at some age thinking now they know everything so they don't need to learn anymore.
I have seen even old age people with brain of only teens. They never accept even that they need to learn but they believe that they know everything and so whoever try to teach them they just get angry over them and say bad to them. They see problem in all but would never be ready to accept that problem is in them not in others.
@StarWarGirl really you have seen this behavior in older people? Now ok your opinion is this a turn off for girls.
Is this true my girlfriend also said that girls are usually more mature she said they start puberty earlier and growup faster I don't know if thats the truth though. And i told her where my mom placed me and my girlfriend instantly agreed i was taken back lol.
Yes a female does get mature faster but reason isn't puberty. Puberty has nothing much to contribute to mental capacity or maturity. It is more affected by emotional intelligence means how much a person is able to understand their as well as others emotions and how much they are able to control it, and the other things what affects maturity to grow is surrounding or circumstances any person face in their lives.
A female get more mature early usually because she lives in such surrounding where society is always ready to blame her more easily for anything where society force her to be more responsible. Society judge her first so naturally she get more careful about herself her act. She get more conscious about her actions. Other thing what makes her mature early because naturally a female brain is usually more conscious more loving caring so she tend to be more caring to others to not hurt others and control her own actions.
But you can see an immature lady also who would be mostly having bad parents irresponsible upbringing or tooooo much love excess that stopped her to grow.
Other side you may see a mature boy also more mature than his age who usually had tough childhood what made him more responsible towards his life in early stage only.
The person who is always ready to learn, try to learn things, observe things more observe people more they grow faster mentally.
Puberty grow the body but the consciousness grow the mind.
@StarWarGirl so its more person specific then? Most girls i know after bringing this to light seem way more mature then i am !!! Lol
Ok im curious do you know any immature girls?
Yes it is person specific only. Yes I know immature girls. Social media is full of such immature girls who are more into getting likes, more crave for attention, if you listen their logics it's full of stupidity. They are full immature.
Maturity is when you know you are enough in yourself, when people opinions doesn't matter to you. You don't crave for attention because you know it's all really does not have much value in real life. Maturity is when you know your value comes from you not by the people opinion.
@StarWarGirl ok so i def crave attention and anothering thing is i always feel my opinion is needed. My mom said thats a immaturity trait?
So ok take a girl you labeled immature what age would you place her vs her real age im just curious?
Definitely they are teenagers only. They all comes only into that category only.
Because before teenager the stage is of childhood which is stage of learning. Children doesn't act against their parents. They are open to learn, they are curious about the world. After teenage the adulthood comes where you start acting with maturity which is definitely having many levels in itself.
But a teens are only who believe they are adult, who act like adult, but their brains doesn't know much still they don't accept that they doesn't know but they believe that they know everything.
So all immature is in teenage category.
Who are mentally lower in age that is in mental illness category. And above teens mind all are mature. Just on different levels on maturity.
@StarWarGirl ok so take me would you set me at teen status then?
Yes. Your mom already given you age of 15. 😊 Means you are not totally immature but you are in middle of growing but still immature.
@StarWarGirl i figured i was just curious lol
Its crazy how blind i am to all of this. My mom has a issue with the tantrums and my actions. Like chores or things she expects me to do. She said i should. follow her lead now that i am set at 15. Those were her words.
She said to you because of any reason it's fine. But definitely tantrum is sign of immaturity. Growing up you would start acting with responsibility and you would tend to help yourself. You would yourself feel like you should help. You would be understanding more that work and daily chores is part of life and you yourself would be willing to do it, you would be loving to help others because it would make you feel like full in yourself. Sitting idly and doing nothing or playing games would bore you.
But there can be case that you don't like doing house chors and it's part of your personality. Then also your maturity would be seen in other things. You would be feeling like to buy groceries or would like to take some official work on yourself as your responsibility. Like that you can judge yourself how far it is true. How far you are acting immature or is it lie.
I don't know you so I'm wrong person to judge you.
@StarWarGirl no judge away lol
So here is an examlpe i wanted a new phone she pays my cell phone bill. She said no i threw a tantrum over this. She said you can't get what you want. I play video games a lot also. She said i can be a lot more strict and add punishments but how im an adult right? Is that even fair!!!
Yes it is totally fair. You are adult by age isn't enough reason. You are dependent on her. She is paying your bills, and she is very much right to manage and control her own expenses. How it is fair for her to spend on you when now you are no more in the age of dependency?
She was responsible for your expenses only upto you were unable to earn for yourself.
If now you believe you are adult, act adult and take responsibility of your own expenses yourself. Go do some part time job. And get whatever you want. Is it fair for her to take your burden when you are now able to earn your own money? Is it act of adult to be burden on other for no right reasons?
@StarWarGirl true i never looked at it that way or even apologized to her.
She said last week she wanted to put a chore chart up for me to follow and i freaked. I said seriously im not 5 mom!!! No way. See i see her as controlling but i also believed my age was where i am mentally so im wrong i guess?
She said this is her house her rules Jay!!! So ok your saying if she wants to punish she has every rihht to? I know im rambling on and on im sorry!!!
One thing you remember. After being adult, your all freedom is curbed legally and rightly as far as you are dependent on someone. You have to go according to them because you are being burden on them. No body is responsible for any adult. But a adult is only responsible for themselves only.
Freedom of having life as we want is earned, it is not given just because you have crossed a age. It is earned. By money or by any kind of support and help to others.
Being in her house being adult you are burden it's fact so helping in chorus or anything isn't extra but it's actually helping them to carry your burden or at least making it feels a little bit lighter. Try to see from their perspective too.
@StarWarGirl see now i feel guilty like a punishment is deserved.
No. Chill. I have no intention to make you feel guilty. 😊 Just grow up. Next time think before acting. 😊 That's it. Take care of yourself. You are nice person just stop being like that. 👍😊
All the best. I'm going off from this conversation.
