The best time is whenever you think that you could be pregnant. But generally, a test will show positive at 2 weeks onwards. So if it’s only been a few days since you had sex and you want to do a test, then I’d recommend waiting until it’s been 14 days and then do a test. You don’t have to wait for a missed period. Some women still get periods at the start of pregnancy, so it’s not always a telltale sign.

I always had a positive test around day 11 or 12 after ovulating. It was faint but it was there. This was at least 3-4 days before my period was due.
