Why would a girl (one of my friend's girlfriend) ask if I think her friend is attractive?

Today, she asked if I thought her friend was attractive. The question caught me off guard a bit, so I just gave a general response, but I don't know if it was just her making a poll, or if there was some meaning behind it!

She wants to know what people think. Maybe someone said something about her looks and it got her thinking. Perhaps it wasn't a nice compliment and she was feeling insecure about her looks. Seeing as how you are a friend of her boyfriend if I understand that correctly... she probably thinks she will get an honest answer from you. She is likely asking people she feels comfortable with and she knows. It isn't something you would ask strangers. In the end she is probably feeling insecure about how she looked and wanted some reassurance. I would not read into it beyond that.

I think she was probably feeling insecure for some reason. This was a way of making herself feel better. That is one possible explanation.

Going out on a limb, I would venture to say that her girl-friend had inquired about you. So it was a roundabout way to see if you think she's attractive.

I'm relatively sure her friend has never seen me before - unless she's been shown a photo of me, but that could explain it a bit!

More than likely, your buddy's girlfriend had a photo of him in it that may have included you in it as well and was showing her friend, and that's where the inquiry started.

Plausible, but I'm not sure why she would inquirie, I don't have many "serious" photos taken of me, and I would consider myself average-looking.
