Girls, Why did a female cashier my age im also female, make me grab the change and cash and receipt from her hand myself?

Im 26 female biologically, and the cashier lady at the takeout restaurant was also a female in her mid 20s to 30s. Im straight and didn’t flirt with her. Im also in Canada

Let me preface this; i had to physically take the change and cash bills and order # from her HAND, she didn't give it to me, in Canada most casheirs and servers hand you it themselves or leave it on the counter

Are you serious? Someone handed you your change and receipt and expected you to take it from them? I have seen a lot of overthink questions on here but this one might take the cake. Umm, she does that with every person she interacts with that she has to give change and a receipt to. What do you think she was going to do? Have you go make change in the register youself? Did you think that she there she was going to pack that in an envelope and then hand it off to someone else to give it to you? I really don't know how to answer this question because it is such a basic concept. A cashier is going to directly hand you your change and receipt. She is going to do it to the next person and the hundred after that as well.

That isn't a normal thing to do there, especially for practical and professional and germ settings, i have never had to before take my change cash and order # physically from someones hands at a restaurant before

I’m in Canada too, cashiers usually just pour it into my hand, change, bills, etc.

though I don’t see the point in adding gender into the equation, cutting to the point as to why any cashier would do this probably would have been more straightforward.

My guess is that she’s likely new, or simply doing it as she was told by someone who trained her, who knows really.
