High maintenance is an annoying, entitled prick of a person (male or female). To specify, a typical HM person is known for:

    • Being too picky and insistent on things that are niche and not easily attainable by the average person.
    • Being too fussy and demanding at restaurants and shops.
    • Looking down on "regular" things as being subpar.
    • Acting as if you're entitled to the niche, the demanding attitude, and so on.
    • Likes "bespoke" and other tags that imply they only surround themselves with quality things and experiences.
    • "They want things the way they want them." Everything is "My way or the highway."

"High maintenance" tends to be confused with "high value," however they're not at all the same thing. High value:

    • Respects themselves (their time, resources, circle of friends, etc.)
    • Respects others (believing in human dignity, etc.)
    • Seeks opportunities for self-improvement (education, activities, etc.)
    • Works daily to improve the world and the lives of others through their own actions, commitments, etc.

To a woman- Hair and nails always done, always dressed nicely, always wearing makeup and spends a lot on her physical appearance, may or may not be independent

To a man- A woman he can not afford to keep up with so he prefers low maintenance woman who he can keep up with

Poor men prefer low maintenance. Rich men prefer high maintenance.

When everything is about her, she’s bossy, wants to be charge, when nothing satisfies her besides unrealistic things. Women and girls assume it’s owed to them, no, nothing is owed to you, you work for it. There are so many broken females in society from past “trauma” from her exes or bad fathers so she feels as her vengeance to get what she deserves. Or sometimes a girl is born with a silver spoon in her mouth so she’s used that life style. Either way, it’s annoying. Females assume guys/men are “intimidated” by a strong woman, nah, it’s just annoying. Why is it that when a guy is strong and independent his masculinity is seen as toxic and his independence is seen as cocky, ahhh the double standard. I was a fool to think females are innocent, I grew up and I’m fully aware of their nonsense and games, I’ll cut people out of my life who waste my time.

Well when you think of a low-maintenance girl, that's a girl who doesn't need or ask for much. It would be a girl that is okay roughing it a little and doesn't complain much about romantic gestures, gifts, or ask for anything in general. Those types of girls are a man's dream.

A high maintenance girl is the opposite. They expect a lot. They ask for a lot. They give you hell if they don't get what they want. They complain about every inconvenience. They require more money and luxuries in life. They consider themselves high value women, when in reality it's the opposite. The women that are low maintenance are the ones that are high value and the high maintenance ones are low value.

A girl whose demanding. Someone who you have to spend a lot of money on, pull out a chair for her, open doors, basically do everything for her if she even has to get a glass of water for herself. But these women don’t offer a lot in return. Many times they’re VERY bitter with men.

Overall the type of men they want don’t want them. They’re wondering why it’s the simps they’re stuck with. Who else who has options is gonna put up with that when there’s women who have by far more to offer.

there are different levels of high maintenance, most people like to stereotype high maintenance with snobbyy personalities, gold diggers, high expectation in everything, and only like luxury lifestyles and gifts.

I do consider myself moderate high maintenance because I worked hard for what I earn, accomplished, and likes to treat myself really well. Therefore, I'd like someone who can do the same or better for me as my partner. I do have a boujee lifestyle.

Just like @bobalife mentioned, there are levels to a woman maintenance.

I am not high, but I am not low either. I do like real gold jewelry and real materials. More on the subtle minimalist side, tho. Nothing flashy, but definitely real. Those are the kind of things I buy for myself with my money as a single woman, and I would like my partner to do that for me as well. I would do the same for him.

Depends if you mean financial or emotional.

A hooker can be financial high maintenance. She will spend will a queen, but fuck the whole party like a whore. Get up next day, and do it again.

But a docile, basic girl can be emotional high maintenance by spending like an Amish housewife. Her emotional baggage will like a French Pit bull; in that she will smash your place up, if you don't call or text every hour.

Mostly it's not they money. Men do like giving gifts as long as it makes you happy, the man can afford it and he feels appreciated. But what really makes a woman high maintainance is her leaveraging her emotional prowess in badgering and dominating a man, manipulating a man and not considering his feelings. So I think that high maintainance has much more to do with emotions than finances.

Can't leave the house without spending a lot of time on hair and make-up even if she's just running errands, going to a sporting event, picnic, or even the gym.

Wears expensive clotehs even when doing the above.

Afraid to get her hands dirty: prefers glamping to camping, afraid to break a nail so won't join in with volleyball, etc at picnics.

Refuses to even offer to pay on dates.

Not going to like some women are raised to believe the men should still pay for dates. My mother tried to get that in my head as a kid but I'll split the bill or pay.

An insane sense of entitlement along with a belief that making herself look attractive by any means possible is essential. Of course she doesn't have the money to pay for it so she has to find somebody else who's stupid enough to pay for it. That would usually be a man.

High maintenance would be someone who thinks they are underneath certain things like clothing not being named brand, etc. Very picky at what they wear eat or type of cologne/perfume they were.
