I attend a small private gym group and sometimes the instructor has us pair up for drills, today a paired up with a cute girl I see on occasion in the gym. We usually have small exchanges, dorky/awkward jokes, or small pleasantries, innocent stuff usually but today seemed different.

In between drills we'll do paired exercises with our partner and today was squats. During our paired squats I could feel my partner pushing down on my shoulders and I couldn't help but mention it cause it was making my squats harder but not a big deal, she replied that it was because I was taller. The next set of squats it felt like she was pushing down even harder on my shoulders so naturally I changed the resistance, I started to pushing on her arms to help alleviate my shoulders.

This feels so silly and funny to write but whatever.

At some point during these squats she says "you said nice and deep" and laughed, only... I never said this. I chuckled and just gave her the ole hi five after the squats and drilling followed by a "good job". After class as we were leaving I asked her about a character on her shirt she and she mentioned her ex gave it back to her and I was wondering if that was her way of telling me she's single. Is she flirting with me?

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but it feels nice to be liked.

That was not flirting but the fact she talked with you insted of saying "bug off" means she finds you attractive.

It is a good sign.

The type of gym I go to it's frowned upon to date teammates also I don't want to build a negative reputation, I'm more so just asking if she's flirting so I know how to conduct myself accordingly. I feel an obligation to maintain a friendly relationship with everyone attending as someone who wants to continue to represent the gym as a place where women can come to without being hit on.

While there's nothing wrong with asking someone out I want to remain in good standing with the instructors and the rest of my teammates. Sometimes I feel like the things I do or say can be interpreted as flirting because I often don't follow the script of typical social dynamics so as benign as it may seem this is precautionary.
