Unless you have underwear that is specifically designed to lift and hold then it doesn't matter if you have thongs or boys shorts or regular old panties it isn't going to support your butt. Underwear isn't designed to do that. It isn't like a bra that provides support as it was intended nor is it needed. I don't have any studies to back this up because no one thinks about what you asked but I highly doubt that wearing thongs are going to make someone's rear end sag or hang anymore than other underwear. A lot of that is going to be if you keep in shape or not and age.

I think you are way overthinking things here. If going commando might give the same results on my butt hanging well then there is no issue. I've gone commando since 6th grade and my butt is not hanging now at 41
