Why do Western guys make it seem like being a woman is an advantage?

Coming from a culture where female foeticide, infanticide, dowry deaths etc. had to be strictly controlled and still occur, I disagree. Some people in my culture even say things like some women are “doubly cursed”because they’re poor and women. Many Indian states have a bad sex ratio, brutal rapes still occur and some women have iron rods inserted in them. So tell me why do you think it’s easier to be a woman? Also why do the Indian guys here claim to be saints?

Traditionally - like a century ago - men were the ones who went to war, worked in very hard labouring conditions like coal mines and were expected to bring a salary home. Women were the ones responsible for raising the children, amongst many other things. They were at the bottom of the social ladder, unable to move up. Men and women led separate lives, so to speak.

Fortunately, we've come a long way since. In our Western society (Europe, USA, Canada), opportunities for women are a reality. In most European universities, women make up the majority of the graduate students: lawyers, judges... There isn't really anything women can't achieve these days, except maybe for attaining the highest positions in international corporate firms. That's still a bastion of masculine power. I think it's referred to as a glass ceiling, an invisible barrier that prevents them from rising beyond a certain level in a hierarchy.

I don't think that men and women are equal, they're not. I do believe in equal rights though.

So do women have advantages, as you say? Yes and no. A divorce is usually settled with the woman having custody over the children and the man a right to visit them from time to time, if he is even allowed to do so. Violent situations in a marriage are usually met with lots of protective measures for women, like free alternative housing. There are no similar measures for men, and even if it's only a small percentage, violence towards men does exist.

The 'me too' movement - although a positive initiative - triggers a whole lot of resentment towards men in general. Abuse should be punished, but all too often, the consequences are desastrous. I know men who have been falsely accused of being violent and were immediately rejected by society and convicted for no reason.

Disadvantages for women? They are, by nature, the ones that will suffer most if something goes wrong within a relationship. Men can sleep around, no consequences for them. Women will always be afraid to get dumped by a man when she gets pregnant.

Here in west that doesn't happen so here female has advantages.

1, I did not even know those things happen in whatever Asian country. Which?

2, Except i heard female feticide in china.

In u. s. the feticide is equal not selected females.

3, About sex, old books said "don't punish your wife by withholding intimacy" but that conflicted the reality then, that men were the ones hiring the prostitute. when prostitute was allowed. Women were not trying to buy sex. Indicated less desire.

So now without prostitute, same situation men are in the situation to hire, so women who have less desire can black mail "get my color curtains or no sex". And my exes were like that. So yeh lady has advantages in west.

I don't know about your culture, but in western culture people always complain and everyone thinks that their problems are the most important.
Women complain about wanting independence, equal pay and safety.
Men complain about wanting respect, intimacy and fulfillment.
And both complain about anything else they happen to come across.

What you observed is happening because some men take the privileges that men have and add the privileges that women have, then think about how it's a pretty sweet deal. However, they fail to account for the fact that women do also not have the male privileges instead.

In more concrete examples, young women can sell pictures of their body and earn easy money, and also easily pick partners to have intimacy with.
They fail to think about being stuck alone with a kid, the possibility of being raped walking outside at night, etc.

Western guys think that way because in the west women are protected from the things that you write about. In the absence of those things and coupled with financial independance and birth control most women have what guys want the most: The potential for unlimited sexual supply.

Men and women have different struggles. Always have. Men were brutally murdered in war and starved first of the family. Women were taken as... captives of war and subjected to poor treatment albeit not the worst. Women in every culture have been fed that I'm aware of.

The folks who say women have it easier are saying women have it easier, (in the west in 2024).
